All of God's creatures are precious and deserve a good life! Thank you for this reminder about random acts of kindness...we all get way too busy living our day to day lives and it is easy to let that become our focus. Bless you! I'm too late to share in this telling of kind acts, but I do want to put down on here a supremely kind act I received exactly one week ago.

My husband was in the hospital from wed before thanksgiving with so much going wrong. I know you are familiar with our story so just will say the doctor decided to allow him to go home on Hospice on Saturday afternoon to be where he was loved.

We were lead to believe we would be able to have our long-planned for Christmas with our daughters and their families. Last Monday, exactly 7 days ago, the hospice nurse assigned to us came on duty at our house. She spent 10 minutes assessing the situation and motioned we go down the hall to talk. She asked if she could talk "straight" and I said "Please Do!"

She said from her experience we had only hours to say our goodbyes and that family who planned to come should do so as fast as they could. She even let me make a short video on Marco Polo of her explaining the signs that indicated we had so little time.

I sent it to our 3 daughters, and they booked flights out that morning and arrived that evening. They were there with me as midnight passed and Tuesday morning dawned and our family's sweet "Grampy" passed from this life.

The nurse gave me a true act of kindness when she was honest and forthright about our situation. No one else was willing to do so! Had she not told us what she knew in her heart to be true, our girls would not have been there to say goodbye and I would have been completely alone to face the loss of my sweetheart as he slipped away.At Rivercrest Cottagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12068816102263605128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3145927977814106970.post-50059840405458162872019-12-08T12:28:58.250-06:002019-12-08T12:28:58.250-06:00I am so glad that you support this wonderful cause...I am so glad that you support this wonderful cause, Kris. I know that is where your heart lies. The sad thing is that the pets can't speak for themselves. They are at the mercy of the humans around them. What a nice giveaway to offer.

We adopted the women's shelter this year-for women that have left their abusive relationship, with their children in tow, and live in a place called The Freedom House until they can be trained and out on their own to support their kids.
NanaDianahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14298962791700019785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3145927977814106970.post-63276863734204753392019-12-07T19:54:01.968-06:002019-12-07T19:54:01.968-06:00Such a sweet post. I always speak to strangers when out and about, especially older people. Quite often I spend some time just talking to them, and on many occasion I have been told that I am the first person that they have spoken to that day, and in some cases for several days. It's so lovely to leave these people with a smile on their faces. Today we were in a coffee shop and I happened to notice a lady nearby who had decided to move to a quieter table, after the previous occupants had left. When she had completed the transfer of the dirty crockery that the previous occupants had used, and transferred her food, drink and belongings to this other table, and then sat down, I happened to notice that she had left her handbag on the floor by the other table. I went over and told her and she was so grateful that she must have thanked me five times! It's all about showing kindness to strangers in these very troubled times, world over. I ...Kris, my email address is ahanddancer@yahoo.com
I look forward to reading your blog and love your decorating style. We too have a rescue (Squirt) who we love dearly.

Regarding my daughter, she has been the greatest blessing in my life. She was born after ten years of marriage and being told that I would never be able to have children. She was the first grandchild on my side of the family and adored by everyone. At 16 she had a head-on collision with a dump truck, broke almost every bone in her body. She was helicoptered to the shock/trauma unit and the helicopter crew expected her to die en route. She survived and spent 6 weeks in the hospital, leaving in a wheelchair. While on crutches she helped care for her dying great grandmother, feeding and helping to diaper her. She has had 13 operations on her left leg, during the last one her femur was shattered. Soon after that I was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was at every doctor appointment and chemo session. She brought a cooler with fruit and snacks and made every chemo session a party. I was treated in Baltimore where there are a lot of homeless people. En route to and from the hospital she handed out her kindness bundles and money to the homeless. She is a tireless supporter of her daughter's many choir activities - decorating, selling tickets, etc. As you can see, I am just so very, very proud of her. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to tell you about her.
Holiday blessings to you and your family,
Helen
Helennoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3145927977814106970.post-89847851723694645992019-12-04T20:03:48.580-06:002019-12-04T20:03:48.580-06:00One of our thrift centers runs a 50% off coupon sp...One of our thrift centers runs a 50% off coupon special several times a year. I often receive more than one coupon and while I am looking if I see a woman with a basket full of goodies or a gaggle of kids, I will ask her if she has the coupon and if she doesn't I'll give her one. I had one lady just hug me and jug me and then I had a man to thank me but no he had one and from then on he would bring his extra coupons to share. For me the shopping is just an outing to stretch my legs, for some families it is the difference between what the family will have to wear or play with. I often donate to animal rescues and will add Louies to my list! We take supplies to our local Humane Society as well. I enjoy taking care of people too and for several years now, have selected someone online or in person who needed help and done what I could for them, such as bought them food or gift cards. One very simple act really stuck with me. The parking lot at the grocery store was packed! I noticed an older woman following me through the aisle, obviously in search of a space. When I spotted one,it was a "pull thru", two spaces front to back. I started to pull in and motioned her to follow me. I took the front spot, allowing her to park behind me. She was so thrilled and thanked me over and over again! I get so much joy out of helping people and making them happy! Our church collects food for the food bank and also to provide food for children over the weekends who only get most meals during school. I prefer to take my donations to donate when no one is at the church to witness (have a key to the church), only God. We collect new shoes for kids in need and provide the same way. I need no pats on the back, only the joy my heart feels. I have had the pleasure of winning one of your acts of kindness giveaways. I shelter elderly rescue cats. I lost 2 this year. I have 10 at the moment, but that could change.
I do acts of kindness every day. I noticed this lady walking home from the grocery store. She was walking along the side of the road carrying groceries, so I offered her a ride. She lives in a small house with her husband, who is disabled. He can't walk and his health is bad. She is legally blind and can't drive. They are in their 60's. So, now I set up times with her so I pick her up and take her to the store. They are so nice and grateful.
But the story doesn't end there. Also on that same street is a single mother with an infant, and a 3 year old. I saw her walking with the baby on her shoulders and holding the hand of the 3 year old, while they both kept their hands on the cart they were pulling. I gave her a ride that day. So now I help her whenever she ask. I also have gotten several presents for her children for Christmas, since she has little money. I really don't know her situation, but she did thank me one day for not prying.
My husband always says that it was just meant for me to help others. But, I always wonder why others don't. He gave me the biggest compliment, when he told me I taught him the best feeling in the world, was helping others and seeing their smile.
Audrey Stewarthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02177594778849362116noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3145927977814106970.post-31249887267158125202019-12-03T10:54:08.672-06:002019-12-03T10:54:08.672-06:00All it takes is for me to look into those sweet fa...All it takes is for me to look into those sweet faces and tears run down my cheeks.
