White PIcket Fence

Hello Everyone.

Hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend.

Terry and I worked to get the picket fence put in out front of the house.

With moving in July it is hard to do too much to the outside of the house for this year.

I wanted to show you my pinned ideas for a white picket fence and arbor.
The inspiration pictures below are from Pinterest.

Then I can show you what we accomplished with our white picket fence and arbor.

I love this white picket with the cornflowers.  Cornflowers remind me of ballet dancers with their tutu's.
I call them the ballerina's of the garden.

Lots going on with this white picket fence.
 Lots of color and varieties.

I feel the fence gets lost.

However the flowers are gorgeous.

This one with the Brown Eyed Susan's mixed in with day lilies .  So pretty.

A nice sweet little arbor and entry gate to this adorable home.  I hope my arbor will fill in by next Spring and Summer.

This arbor with the double gate and painted birdhouse is really pretty.

This is my inspiration for my white picket fence.
I love this look and hope to accomplish this look for my yard.

I want to get roses to climb on my arbor.

This inspiration picture reminds me of an old english garden.  So pretty and full.

I had to sneak this old English fence in just because it was cute.

Now here is the start to my picket fence.

I put a little wicker flower basket out on the gate.  I can see lots of fun things to hang on this gate for the holidays.
We added the arbor and then attached the gate to the fence so it swings open.  It will be fun to get something growing up the arbor come Spring next year.

I planted on both sides of the fence.

This way when it all fills in it will be thick and plush.
Plus when I look outside I want to see the pretty too.

At this point and  it being so late in the season we will keep the fence just one section on each side going up into the yard.

We can always add more in the Spring.

We planted double pink climbing roses.

With it being so late in the season I was surprised I could find a lot of perennials still available.

Everything we put in should bloom until the first frost.
Let's pray that does not come too quick.

I put in Shasta Daisies.

That big ugly dead tree to the left of your screen is being removed on Wednesday.  Not only are we happy to see the dead tree go so our my neighbors that have those thorny branches constantly all over their driveway.

I will have fun with this arbor and fence this Christmas with garland and lights.
I will plant something that will climb up the arbor and over the top in the Spring.

The white picket fence plus some planting is in for the rest of what summer and fall we have.

I cannot wait for it all to fill in next Spring and Summer.

Hopefully at some point my picket fence will look like the one below.
Have a great start to the new week.
Hugs,
Kris

  6. You've already done this much? You guys are remarkable! It's already beautiful, Kris, and I can certainly picture it being surrounded by lush plantings next summer. It really suits your darling house. And by the way, those houses across the street have oodles of character too. Really sweet street to live on!

  8. I love that fence and arbors as entrances. All those BEAUTIFUL flowers. I am in limbo right now trying to decide if moving is in my future but if not I am thinking that doing my front yard with an adorble white fencing would be so beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

  13. I would love this in my yard but our city does not allow a fence in front yard. This will look adorable next year with your flowers in abundance.

    1. Me again. I just showed my husband your posting. We are getting ready to put a fence up in our front yard after we have a surveyor. Did you need to use an auger to get your posts in? We've only ever installed wood fencing so we were wondering about vinyl. Thanks Kris

    2. Hi Betty,
I wish I had your email to send you the info. So I hope you come back to read this. There is a company called Zippity that makes this fence. They are all vinyl and maintenance free. The beauty of this fence is you do not have to dig holes or use cement or get permits to put it in.
It is semi permanent so you could remove it if you want. There is a steel poll that you pound about 3 feet into the ground and then the post cover goes over that. So no digging or cement. This fence is so popular that it has been on back order all summer. It finally came in to all the stores that carry it. I bought mine directly from the company but I just saw that Home Depot has this on line for a lot less than I paid for each panel. Wayfair carried it too. If you need the links to the sites email me and let me know your email and I can give that to you. If you just google Zippity Nantucket white fence you should get all the stores that carry it. Good luck you will love this fence. It is a lot to get the steel post pounded into the grown but not as bad as digging holes and cement and permits. Good luck.

  16. Kris, that is so beautiful! I can totally imagine how it will look next year when you are able to plant it up fully. I love the arch and the cute basket hanging on the gate. You will have such fun with that, changing it for each season. You both must have worked really hard to get it all done. Hugs, Gilly x

  17. The white picket fence is certainly the icing on the cake! I didn't realize you had such a big front yard and that your home is small in a neighborhood of bigger and probably more expensive homes. Smart move. I can just see that front yard filled with pathways and herbs in a cottage garden look. Everyone who passed by would have to stop and look at the beauty of it.

  19. The picket fence is the perfect addition to JCC 4 and I can't wait to see everything in bloom next year. Your street looks to be a very well kept neighborhood with beautiful homes. I bet they are excited to have you and Terry as new neighbors who take such pride in your home. JCC 4 seems to be the smaller of the lot but it will be equally impressive after the Dynamic DIY Duo's magic touches!

  29. How fun to have that white picket fence! It's beautiful and your flowers are already starting to stretch their legs! I had two arbors when I lived in Washington State.. they were by our garden and one had a climbing rose bush that went way over the top. I loved it so. Wish I could have brought it with us. The other I would plant my climbing beans under it and they would grow up the sides. You will have a blast decorating that fence and arbor for the different holidays and I can hardly wait to see what you do for Christmas! Oh the lights.. the boughs.. the berries.. the holly..... your neighborhood is just beautiful and those stately homes across the street make your views just so perfect.... I'm amazed at what you two have done in such a short time. Are you ever going to take a break?? (hee hee)... probably not. I can imagine you'll have a lovely cottage garden next year. xoxoo Marilyn

  33. I love it, Chris! My Mr. AGPMan hope to do the same thing. I've wanted a picket fence for so long now. About three years ago I was in my home state of Cali and I took some pictures of houses that have picket fences. I showed them to my hubby and it is definitely on our list. I love your house and your fence looks amazing. Ours is a ways off...must finish painting the outside AND that is a BIG JOB. Thanks for stopping in today. You make me SMILE! <3
