New Armoire

Happy Friday Everyone.

I wanted to show you that you can cut down an armoire and make it fit pretty easily.

This was the armoire before we cut it down.  You can see how it sticks out of the corner into the room.

This is how it looks after cutting off about 14 inches.  It fits back in that corner so much better.

I can leave the armoire angled or even push it flat on the wall and everyone on the sectional will be able to see the TV.

Buddy wanted to show you the new pillow we got for "his" sectional!
He is so happy to have this sectional in the room.  He lays most of the day on the back of the sectional.
He can see the world going by out the window and also soak up sunshine on the rare occasion we see the sunshine!

I can start to hang decor pieces and pull this room together.
I will be back with the whole room finally put together soon.

Have a great weekend.
Today the sun is shining and I am doing a happy dance.

The weekend is predicting more gloom and snow and freezing rain.  Oh, Spring where are you?!!

Hugs,
Kris

  1. Kris, it looks wonderful! I love how Terry fixed this to fit into your room! Everything looks so pretty and I cannot wait to see it with all of your pretties on the walls. Buddy is so adorable and I love how he sits there to have his photo taken! Love the pillow also! How was your trip yesterday and how did Terry's appointment go? Love and hugs!

  2. Go Terry. Y'all are so clever. I'm so sorry your getting more snow. I don't think we've even gotten any flurries. It's been raining like crazy though. I can't wait to see the reveal.

  3. Such a great idea to cut the cabinet down. Terry did such a great job with it, and now it looks perfect in that space. I totally love this room, so functional and comfy! Happy lounging on that wonderful sectional!

  4. Kris this is fantastic! I'm loving it and it is perfect. Can't wait to show John. He enjoys seeing Terry's work.

When I see Buddy on the couch I giggle at how he blends.

I hear you about the sun. Show yourself. We get one day then clouds, ice and rain.

    Enjoy

  7. I'll tell you -- that Terry is a genius when it comes to figuring out how to make things bigger or smaller. That would be terribly daunting to most people..and they would have no idea where to start. Maybe it is in the "fireman's blood" My SIL is handy like that, too!

Love how you have it placed now. For years we had a sofa table behind our sofa where we could eat and watch TV. It worked out great.

Have a great weekend. We have more snow coming here, too. I am SO OVER winter! xo Diana

  11. Kris, I'm so glad that you were able to do that. It really does make a difference in the room. Little Buddy is just precious. Such sweet eyes and I'm glad he has his own place to watch the world go by. I am no longer getting everyone's comments in my inbox, only on the blog itself, so I am answering there until I can figure it out. Maybe spring will make it all better!..Happy Weekend..xxoJudy

  12. The armoire is perfect as you've recreated it! Wondering if you are going to give us the info on how you did it? please, please... Your room has turned out wonderfully unique. I love a white on white room and will be mooning over yours now.

    1. It really was not hard. We measured all the way around the piece and did straight lines then just cut down through the lines as it laid on it's back. Then we cut down the shelves on the inside. We put the back piece back on and that was it. We had a new armoire with 14 inches taken off. Easy Peasy really. It was not as hard as I thought it was going to be. A good circular saw and a hand saw and we were in business. Hope you come back to see my reply. You are a no reply blogger so I did not have an email to return this information to you. Happy Weekend.
      Hugs,
      Kris

  13. Hi Kris! What a difference and kudos for you & Terry for your can do attitude! It turned out so perfectly. Sweet buddy deserves his pretty sectional, little prince that he is. Yes, another weekend in paradise with our horrible winter weather! Hoping March brings a turn around or at least some sunny days. Jane

  18. Oh my, I can imagine the look on my husband's face is I said, "Honey, would you mind reducing the size of this armoire?" But it happens in your house! And what a difference it makes. Your sectional is beautiful, Kris! And the company should use a picture of Buddy on it for their poster child/dog. He would make me want one! Don't you just want to hug him to pieces? I do!

  21. Goodness where was I this morning during my blog hop! THIS IS AMAZING! Kris, what a genius idea and the skill and patience it takes to do this...my guy is handy, but I could see him getting a little frustrated with getting this right as such. Bravo, you two. It looks great! Now to work on the dining area idea, huh?

  24. Beautiful! The room is really coming together nicely. And that sweet pup is the icing on your charming decor cake. Forget about the sectional, it looks like you custom ordered Buddy to fit the room!! Ha!! xoxo

  25. It looks awesome Kris! Terry worked his magic again (and I'm sure it happened with YOUR help too!). I picture some sort of angle in the back but maybe not. I read your description as to how you did it, but still can't picture it in my mind! Oh well.. it looks wonderful there! so glad Buddy has a place to light and watch the world go by. We have an old loveseat that sits under our front window, and it is out "cat couch" as we call it. We never sit on it, just the cats. They love it there so they can look outside. We don't have any sliding doors anywhere for them to sit by and look out, so windowsills will have to do! The cat couch I keep covered with a blanket and quilts so I can wash them easily. I don't know what we'd do without our cat couch! I love your sweet pillow too. Your living room is really coming together! Hugs.. Marilyn
