Two Guns and A Chair and A Winner

Hello sweet blogging friends.

We are actually -24 degrees today and climbing.  Yesterday -26 and wind chill -50.  Nuts I tell ya!

At least this is the last day for the brutal temps.
Tomorrow it will start returning to our normal winter temps.
I for one will be so glad.  I have felt like a trapped animal these past few days.

Picture me bundled in my down coat, hat, scarf and gloves and heavy duty boots carrying Buddy outside to the spot in the yard he does his business.  I had to do this or his paws would freeze immediately!  I am so over winter!!!!

Ok let's get to the post.

I do not sew but I can use a staple gun and hot glue gun like no ones business!

This was my office chair.  I have had this chair for a long time.  I love this chair because of it's comfort.  I sit for long periods of time at the computer so this chair is so comfy to do that.

The material on this chair had seen better days.  So off it came.  With a good staple gun and glue gun I was able to re love this office chair's with some new fabric.

Here she is!  She is chippy white and has new pretty fabric and I can even twirl on occasion when the mood strikes in this chair!!!

My chippy sweet office chair is back in business.  Amazing what you can do with a staple gun and hot glue gun when you cannot sew.

I started to work on the new banquette.  I kept the custom slipcovers from my Ikea chairs after I sold the chairs.  I thought maybe I could use the buffalo check ruffle on the new banquette.

This is where I ended up after stapling and making a padded seat.  Just not lovin it!

Even with looking at adding a back to this I still was not loving it.

This was my inspiration from Ballards Designs.

So it was back to the drawing board.
I found this on Offer Up for $40.  It looks in good shape.
I believe I can re love this piece with a more updated look using paint and a new padded seat and possibly some new legs.
Stay tuned hoping this plan will work.
Terry and I will pick this up on Saturday and hopefully get to work on it.

Now onto the winner of the sweet dryer ball give away.

And the winner is Tonita!   Tonita email me your address and these sweet little dryer balls will be on their way to you.

Have a great rest of the week and wonderful weekend.  Hoping by tomorrow here in Illinois we will begin to thaw out.

UGH!!!!!

Hugs,
Kris

Little Beau Sheep Giveaway and An Update

Hello sweet blogging friends.  Happy Sunday.
I have a little giveaway and also some new projects in the works and an update.

While minding my own business and perusing Etsy one evening I came across something just too adorable to pass up.

These sweet little dryer balls.  I can't stand how cute they are.  So I bought some!!!!!

This sweet and talented seller lives in the United Kingdom and uses 100% wool to make these.

Description

LITTLE BEAU SHEEP 100% wool dryer balls help soften clothes naturally, increasing fluffiness as the dryer tumbles, eliminating the need for fabric softeners or dryer sheets. They are also much quieter and more environmentally friendly than the plastic alternatives. Just pop all three balls into the dryer for a small load of laundry. Or for larger, more heavy duty loads I'd recommend six or more.

These felted laundry balls will last for 1,000's of loads. Each pack of 3 sheep dryer balls are made with 100g of natural, undyed wool. They are 100% wool roving to the core with no fillers and not made from wrapped yarn so they can't unravel. They may pill slightly over time with use but this will not affect their performance and you can just trim this off to keep them looking beautiful!
This sweet shop can be found here on Etsy.
Her Shop Name is Little Beau Sheep!

This sweet and talented seller did not compensate me in anyway to give her this shout out on my blog.  I just love to buy from small business and give them a shout out here on my blog when they make something as special as these dryer balls.

They come in sets of three to a box.  Very nice packaging if you want to give these for a gift.

Look at those adorable faces.  Could not pass these up.  This seller also makes wool soap and oils to put on the dryer balls too.

The idea is to get rid of dryer sheets and chemicals to dry our clothes.  I have to say I still love my Downey and Snuggle smells with my laundry.  So I cheat the enviorment a little bit and spray my dryer balls with a little fabric softner.

These really work so well.  My laundry does come out very soft. These little guys hold there shape too.  She says you can get over 1,000 dryer loads out of these cuties!

Since I was such a Shopaholic and could not resist buying some of these.  I am going to do a small give away of a few of these.
I wrapped them up in cello and tied them off.  They are ready to be sent to a few of you lucky readers of my blog.

Hmmmm what might Terry and Kris have up their DIY sleeves for this piece?  This is a storage shelf from Ikea.  Very inexpensive $35.

This my friends is going to be converted to a banquette for the corner where the round dining table will go in the new Living Room / Dining Room make over.

This is an example of a banquette that Ballards Design's Sells.  They are very expensive if you buy them pre made.   They are very efficient for giving you seating in a small space.

Terry and his handy tools will convert the inexpensive Ikea pieces into the frame for the banquette.

I hope to find some pretty fabric and make the back and seats for this piece.

I have had this office chair for a 100 years!!!!  Ok maybe 5 years!
Seems like a 100 with the wear and tear it has taken.
I really love the chair so I did not want to replace it with a new chair.

It is broken in nicely for comfort and chippy just the way I like!!!

I decided to tear off the old and used fabric and low and behold the padding underneath is still good.

I will go out today and see what kind of fabric I can find to make this chair pretty again.

I will cover the pads with the fabric and use a staple gun and maybe a glue gun ( I know Benita the dreaded glue gun might have to come out!!!)
to put the pads back in place.

Then finish off the piece around the edges with some piping.  Since I do not sew I hope this plan will all work.

I will hopefully,  fingers crossed and not glued to each other,  have a nice finished chair to show you.

Have a great start to the new week.

I am not even going to whine about our low temps and snow snow snow.  It is what it is!!! No surprise this is happening here in the midwest.

Makes me think though I need to be a southern girl and not a northern girl!!!!

These winter DIY's help me through the winter months.
I have some early spring cleaning of closets to start while the weather is crappy too.

Just would rather have fun creating some new pieces.

Hugs,
Kris

Happy Friday

Just a quick up date post.

Please note.  I took pictures of the room at the moment in time.

You will see some pretty updates along with real life in this room too.

I did not want to take the time to clean up tools etc. as we are still in the midst of re doing this space.

This is my old farm house window and shutters that I had on the long wall of my living room.  It was really the only wall in this small room that was large enough to accommodate these pieces.

With the new switch up in progress,  I thought hmmm what if that window could fit in the actual window of the living room.

I thought oh Terry is going to love this crazy idea when I tell him!!!!

Well guess what?   With a few minor adjustments this window was able to fit.  I still have the other window behind this.  It just fit perfect in the opening.

Now the vintage farmhouse window has a new place in the room and does not take up my precious wall space.

Another good thing is I can open the window behind the farmhouse window if need be!

Yeah!!!

Any kind of  window opening will not be happening anytime soon here.

Below zero temps for us right now.

Just glad to know I can open up the window if I need too.

The walls and ceiling are painted.  I am on the hunt for new drapes.

I am trying really hard to have patience waiting for my new Pottery Barn Sectional to come in.

The door/mirror Terry made is now ready to find a place in this room.

Remember this door was framed out with additional salvage pieces that are now making an arch entry

I love that I can still have my door/mirror and we could use the extra pieces to frame out this door way.

My sweet TV armoire found on Offer Up is painted and awaiting a new TV and some pretty decor above it.

This is where I am at with the living room / dining area up dates.

I cannot wait for the sectional.

I also have a little fun surprise to show you soon on making space work with a round table in a corner!!!!

Stay tuned for that.

I am thinking of getting that light film you can put on windows to let light in but gives you some privacy.
This window faces my neighbors and at night I would like to have a little privacy.

I just do not want to lose the character of this  window by putting drapes or blinds on the window.

Have any of you used this film for windows and how did you like it?

Hope you are enjoying these small steps I am posting as we get to the final reveal of the living room and dining room.

Patience is the name of the game and that is not my strong suit!!

Loved seeing the sun today as our temps here in Chicago are at extreme lows.

Have a good Friday and wonderful weekend.
Hugs,
Kris

New Wall Color

Hello Everyone.

Hoping all of you are off to a great start to the new week.

Ugh!!! We got almost 12 inches of snow on Saturday.

Had to shovel out a path for Buddy.  Thankful he loves the snow!!!!  Does not like rain but will do snow when it happens!

  It is sooooo cold here.

At least the sun is out that helps with these cold temps.

My face actually hurt to go out to the garage today with how cold it is.

I seriously need to live where I can wear flip flops year around and retire my Ugg boots!!!

Ok enough with me whining about Illinois winter weather.
On to showing you my new wall color for the living room and dining room.

We painted the walls with Behr paint called Gallery White.
It is white with a touch of gray shadow in the color.
As you can see with the trim meeting up with the wall it is ever so slightly different than a true white like on the trim piece.

I wanted to say good bye to the darker gray walls.
I am headed in the direction of lighter and more neutral for when my Sectional comes in that has more cream and beige in the color.

As you can see the walls do have the slight hint of light gray.  This is my old farm house window and shutters.  I had them hanging on the opposite wall in my living room.

I had this huge old heavy window leaning on the actual side window in my living room.

Hmmm,  I thought hey that might make for a great focal point.

Maybe Mr. Terry and his mighty tools could make that window fit over the window already there.

I rarely open that window up so putting the old vintage farmhouse window over this window might just work and make a great focal point in this room.

Stay tuned!  Hoping this might work.

I think the new lighter wall color will work nicely.  I will begin to add warmth with the furniture and drapes and possibly a rug.

Buddy was taking advantage of this warm spot. The sun streaming in gave him a warm and cozy spot for his morning nap.

Buddy's face tells it all!!!  Buddy like most pets do not like when things are not where they are suppose to be.

Believe me Buddy we are right there with you!  I cannot stand having my living room torn up.

In the snow storm on Saturday the room was painted.  It was a perfect day to be inside and paint!!!

If any of you have seen any really cute cottage drapes that might have light gray and creams please shoot me an email or comment here.

I have my buffalo check gray and white I can put back up,  but I am thinking I would like to find something to tie in the cream with the light gray and whites.

Thinking maybe a pretty french country or cottage floral drape.

Have a great new week ahead.

If you are near the snow and cold stay warm like me.  Try to keep warm and cozy!

If you are near the water, beach,  warm sunshine and fabulous weather keep that to yourself lol!
I would be too jealous to hear about it!!!

Hugs,
Kris

Sweet Thank You and A New Wall Color

Friday was dark and cold winter day.  No sunshine Ugh!
I heard Buddy barking at something outside the living room window.
Then the door bell rang.  A sweet delivery guy handed me this beautiful vase of flowers.
The combination of these flowers smelled amazing.  My whole house smells like a floral shop.

The colors were so soft and pretty.  The attached card said "I wanted you to know I am thinking about you and hoping you begin to feel better soon".

They were sent to me by Diana from
Nana Diana Takes A Break Blog.

Diana and I become friends years back in blog land and made a connection.   She and I are  now a wonderful friends.

Thanks Diana for always sharing your caring heart and gifting me with your friendship.  This was truly a wonderful surprise.

This is the current color of the walls in my living room and dining space.  I like the color but with the new direction I am going,  I felt  the color of the wall should be lighter in color.

My dining chairs are a light beige.

This is the fabric of my chairs up close.

This is the pottery barn swatch of the new sectional that is being made up.  It is more cream in color too.   I want to soften the wall color to blend with the new furniture.

I like the wall color of our bedroom.  More white with just a touch of gray.  As you can see on a gray winter day it is hard to capture a nice pretty picture to share.  The walls look more gray without good natural light but they really are more white with a touch of gray.

I had a full gallon of the Gallery White bedroom paint.  Yeah! Zero cost to paint the walls.

Here's the lid information for the Gallery White color of Behr paint in case any of you like this color too.

With all the snow we are getting this weekend we will be stuck at home.  Good opportunity to paint the walls!!

I will show you the difference the lighter color of paint will do for this room.

The Gallery White will be lighter and brighter and will pull my creams, grays and whites together nicely.

As soon as we get the walls painted and some of my decor back up on the walls,  I will show you how that is coming together in my next post.

Still trying to be patient while waiting for the new sectional to come in to complete the new spaces.

Have a great weekend.

New Old Desk Re Love

Hello Sweet Friends.
The Brain Fog is lifting!!!

Let me thank all of you for coming by my last post. Sharing your wonderful information on some natural things you have had success with treating your autoimmune issues was so helpful.

I was hesitant to use my decor blog to write something so personal that I have been going through.
With all the caring and informative comments I  am glad I did.
I have had so many warm and wonderful caring comments along with personal emails full of wonderful information.

I am amazed at how many of us suffer with some of the same issues.

I have been a mess for a few weeks but am hopeful with some new things to try,  I will get to a better place with my fibromyalgia.

So from the bottom of my heart I love all of you taking time to share your experience and what has worked for you.
Hugs to all of you for your helping me and others.
Love our blogging community.

OK!!! Now onto the re love of an old entry way table I bought on Offer Up.  I got this to make into a new desk for my office area.

This is the cherry wood table I got on offer up to re love into a new desk for my office.

Here it is sanded completely down to the natural wood.  Thank you sweet Terry for having the patience and sander to get this accomplished.
Love that man!!!!
I was hoping the color of the wood would be more natural and not so red like you see in the picture.
I really wanted to leave it natural, however with all the red my only choice was to paint it white.

So I painted it with one coat to allow some of the wood to come through with less of the red.

Here she is all painted and pretty.  My little design assistant Buddy has his bed under my desk and loves to spend time there while I am on the computer.

In my three in one room this is the little corner of the room that is my office area.

My little cherub pen holder.  You can see in this picture how the wood does bleed through just so slightly.  I like this look.

I put the original hardware back on.  I liked the gold tone to the hardware.  I am looking for something sweeter and cooler for the desk drawer hardware.  For now these will work.

I love my Best Mimi Ever framed piece that I got from my sweet grands.
This is an old vintage curtain rod that I hung vintage baskets on to hold the little things over my desk area.

I like to use the vintage frames and baskets to organize my desk area.

So there you are.  This is my little space where I read your blogs and read your sweet comments on my blog posts and answer your emails.

Thank you for taking time to stop by.
Have a great rest of the week.
Living room is coming together and I will have some more to show in my next post.
Hugs,
Kris
