New Table Update

Hi Everyone.
Finally got the table to the right size for the room!!!!!!!
Here are some pictures of the new table.

This is the table that Terry made out of the old table legs and our $15 dollar bargain Windsor chairs we found in Michigan.  They were black and we painted them gray.   As you can see the table was about 6 inches too long for the space and blocked the entry way to the kitchen.

So for now we will just have a table for 4 people. There is just Terry and I so this will work until we can take out the wall between the kitchen and living room for an open concept.

Terry was going to move the chandelier over to the middle of the table but since we are going to take down this wall in January we decided to leave it where it is.  Still looks nice in the middle of the room.  We just figured why move it and then have to move it again when the wall comes down!

This is the wall that will come down and we will open up the living room and kitchen area.  Then I can have a longer dining table for entertaining.  When they made this house back in the 40's there was not such thing as open concept and rooms were very tiny and walled off.

I am waiting on the slipcovers I ordered from Target in white to cover the chairs.  This way the chairs will flow better with my two white slipcovered living room chairs.

The wall needs something in the mean time before it is taken down.    I have an idea for that so stay tuned to see what becomes of that space on the wall.

Happy Friday
Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Kris

  1. Hi Kris, wow I love that table Terry made you. The grey chairs look pretty in that color. You are so lucky to have a handy husband. It’s going to look great and I can’t wait to see it next year.
    Enjoy the weekend

  2. You two are such a team and the most creative couple I know!

Those gray chairs are pretty but I can see how for the smaller table the upholstered ones look better. It's nice that you have this table there for the holidays but I can only imagine how transformed the space will be after your January project. I wonder what will be on that wall in the meantime though? Something beautiful, I'm sure!

  3. I think that your intimate table for four is lovely . . . our table is small also, but I have found that when we have guests over that if we only have one other couple, it makes for deeper conversations and a way to get to know one another in a greater way. People hold back when there is someone at the table that they don't know well and so the conversation become so general and superficial . . . enjoy your small table. Thre's plenty of time for that wall to come out :) Your space is incredibly charming.

  4. The table turned out great. This will be perfect when the wall comes down.

I agree about the chandelier. Moving it to move it back again for a few months would be a waste. You must be excited about taking the wall down.

I'm sure you're aren't looking forward to the mess but in the end it will be wonderful.

Enjoy your weekend. Hugs to Buddy.

  9. Looks so cute! I guess, that I missed what happened to that fantastic table that opened up into something larger. Yes, it's better not to move it until the wall comes down cost wise, and because you can never know what awaits. We opened our kitchen, but couldn't remove the entire wall, so made it smaller. It was not support, but plumbing. Oddly our house is pretty open compared to others that I've seen. I suspect someone removed a wall at sometime between our dining area and living room, that makes it nice. I can see from the front door through the back porch. They probably kept rooms smaller, because they were more efficient to heat in those days.

  17. What a beautiful table! My dining room table with the leaf in makes the room much too uncomfortable for moving around easily so I keep it in a closet and the smaller table is much better for everyday use. The renos never end do they? lol Have a happy weekend xoxo
