Ruffles make a difference

Hi Everyone.
It is a very gloomy and a rain filled day so not so bright pictures.  Sorry :(

I know I have shown you my wonderfully made slipcovers from Lisa Harmon over at Fabric 8 Slipcovers.

Love her work.  Recently I gave her my slipcovers to make a new ruffle and piping on the arms and cushion covers with the same fabric as my drapes.  Lisa did a fabulous job.  I just got them and want to show them to you.

This was how they looked with the white ruffles.

Lisa did a great job adding the buffalo check light gray and white ruffles to the chairs.

Now my 4 conversation area chairs have the ruffles and piping to match the fabric of my drapes.

The piping is the matching fabric on the arms and cushion covers too.

I think the new ruffles and piping pull the room together now with my drapes.

I changed up the round conversation area to two chairs straight and facing the two other chairs that are on an angle.  It opens up the entry way to walking into the room.

These are the new slipcovers with the buffalo check fabric ruffles.

I like that the two chairs are straight and face into the living room.  Gives me a way to have a lamp and table between all 4 chairs.   I either need a pretty rug or maybe a nice long coffee table with some character down the middle space.

I love Lisa's work.  She always does a nice job.  I did iron the ruffles but I like the shabby look and style to these chairs.  I want to sit in them and feel comfy .
If you need slipcovers I will add Lisa's link below.
Lisa is super sweet and will work with any design ideas you have.

Next Up will be showing you some changes to my 3 in 1 room.  I have one bedroom that is my office area, my make up area and also my guest room.

This hot mess is my office this past weekend.  The walls got painted Behr white mocha.  It is a light cream color.

The white mocha color paint goes nicely with the one wall that has wallpaper.

We are working on some switch a roo's and a few changes in this room.

This small bedroom will still work as my office and make up area and also a guest room with a queen bed.

Terry is going to solve the problem of how we can add  a queen bed to this small room and still have open space to move around.  Stay tuned for this idea.

I hope to have this room finished up soon to show you.

Have a great new week ahead.
Hugs,
Kris

  4. Love the update/changes to the sitting area chairs. Wish I had a small percentage of your ambition. I need to just get things organized vs you making everything so pretty. I just don't seem to be able to find the gumption. I do enjoy seeing what you accomplish.

  6. YOU really know what you're doing, Kris. To take a small space and use the amount of furniture in just the right proportions, angles and locations is not an easy task to achieve, yet you do it every time, spot on. LOVE how the buffalo checks match!

  8. Ooo, I love the ruffles in the buffalo check! And I like how you've arranged the room. It does look so cozy and inviting. Get a rug! A coffee table might make the room feel crowded. Hmmm, looking forward to how y'all get a queen bed to work in the spare room. I need the ideas for ours!

  10. The new ruffles are the finishing touch in this room. They look so pretty with the curtain and the wallpaper. Love the new seating arrangement too. You have done more tweaking and refining in the short time you have been in your house than I've done during the twenty-two years we've lived here. Hmm, think I need to up my game...ha!

  11. Love the new ruffles and how they tie with the drapes. Can't wait to see how you are managing to fit a queen bed and your office/makeup space in that room.

  12. Love these new slipcovers and the way you have the chairs set. Can't wait to see if you decide rug, coffee table or both.

Could magical Terry be working on a murphy bed? Hmmm, I'll wait and see

    Enjoy your day

  13. I love how you are letting your home evolve--I really think you need to live in a space before you make certain choices. How the light plays...in a home...and then learn to dance with it. Nummy!

  14. Absolutely charming, Kris! Your home always looks so lovely, so warm and welcoming which is not easy to pull off with all white decor, but you certainly manage it! I absolutely love that wallpaper, every time I see it I'm just the tiniest bit tempted to add some to my house! xo

  16. So cute! Ruffles do add a lot don’t they! I live in a small home so I know how it is trying to get a room to be multifunctional. My instincts said “yes” for a rug in the living room....I think they always complete the look. 😊

  17. Kris, I have always loved the idea of having four conversation chairs rather than sofas! I've never managed to talk the man of the house into it but it just makes so much sense. Friends and family would just naturally fall into a great conversation with this arrangement and yet it still makes for a reading area for anyone wanting quiet space.

It's so beautiful now and your friend did a great job on the ruffles. I love that you always try to pass along word of another's work when you're happy with it.

Now how in the world can your husband make a room bigger?? I shall stay tuned to see!

  21. That sounds like a tall order to get a queen size bed and everything else in the room, BUT, have no doubt that Super Terry can get it done! Love the ruffles on the chairs, Kris. Everything is looking so pretty..Happy Tuesday..xxoJudy

  22. Those new ruffles and piping look so pretty. Wish I could see it in person! I love everything you and Terry do! Am excited to see how he'll get a queen bed into that room. Hubby and I have thought a murphy bed is a good idea for small rooms, but then you need to be able to have the room to put it down (and/or move all the stuff that is blocking it!). Always fun to see what your new projects are! We are still hot and dry here in central Oregon.. it rained once a few nights ago for about 10 minutes, and that was it for the last 2-/12 months! We are becoming a dust bowl I think. Have a wonderful week! Marilyn

    1. Hi Pam,
I brought my drapes on Etsy and then asked the lady that made my drapes to sell me the fabric needed for the ruffles. Here is the link.

      Hope that helps.

  28. Hi Kris! I have a question about your multi purpose room. I have a small room I am using as an office, crafting site and twin bed. So I can't wait to see how you work your space out . I'm at a loss as to how to make it function better. What size is the room? Thanks for all your great postings.

    1. Hi Betty,
My room is 10 x 12 or maybe 12 x 12 not sure but it is small. Terry is going to make a Murphy Bed for me that will fold up onto the wall and then you pull it down when you need it. It looks like a cabinet in the room and takes up very little room. I used one corner of this room for my make up table and the other corner with a little bit longer wall for my office area. That leaves one long wall for the murphy bed and it can fold out into the room if I keep it horizontal. They do make Vertical Murphy beds too. I j just do not want the bed taking up the whole room when it is down so we will make ours horizontal. Hope that makes sense. You will have to wait and see it in my post when we get it done and I think it will make more sense.
      Hugs,
      Kris

  31. I love the buffalo check ruffles - they definitely draw the room together.

I was looking at your window and basket hanging from it. In our bathroom remodel we are having a big medicine cabinet built over the sink and toilet. We removed a cabinet that hung on the wall behind the medicine cabinet. We will only have two long towel racks on the wall and I need something that is fun yet takes up little space. I'm think an old window (I have one hanging in my shed) where I can hang a few fun pieces might be just the trick. Thanks for the inspiration.
