Move In Day

Hellooooo and Happy Friday.

Yeah I am not homeless anymore!!!! We got everything moved out of the POD and into the house yesterday.  While I am overwhelmed with having boxes and stuff everywhere I am excited to finally be HOME!

I found this painted plank saying awhile ago and just loved the message.  So I cannot wait to hang it in the new house.

Priority #1 was getting my sleep number bed up and ready for us to sleep in last night.  Oh how I have missed my bed!  I had a little  Hug Fest with my sweet bed!  It was nice to land in this bed last night!
While I see boxes and stuff everywhere I will be so happy when I can start to decorate.

We have some major unpacking and the kitchen to finish before I can start my decor.  Just trying to breath and not get too overwhelmed with all the things that need to be done.

Seriously moving is not for sissies!

Remember my armoire that Terry made into an office space for my computer in our last house.  It is now going to be re loved into a nice big pantry for the kitchen area.

Our kitchen is so tiny that I needed more storage.

I had intended this to be in the living room but it was too big for the space.  It is challenging living in a tiny house.  Sometimes where you think something will fit it really does not.

I found one of my sweet angels while unpacking so I put her in the window of the kitchen to watch over us as we try to get this kitchen together today.

This sweet love while confused is adjusting to her new life.  I love that she loves that white chair like Cooper did.

Peggy is wondering why she is not back at my daughters with the three dogs.  She was just getting to like them and poof now she is an only child again!  I told her No worries she will drive down with me on babysitting days to see the boys.

I am so glad we adopted this wonderful fur ball of love.  Peggy is really happy to be living indoors and have comfy places to nap.

House training is coming along nicely too.  Since she was kenneled outdoors all the time they potty when and wherever so she is doing pretty good with getting to know to go outside to potty.

I am wishing all of you a great Friday and wonderful weekend.  It is sooooo hot here in the burbs of Chicago.  95 yesterday and today.  Perfect weather for moving in right?!!!! Ughhh!!!

I cannot wait to get to the decorating part to show you.  This sweet little cottage house is going to be so cozy and fun to decorate.

While living large in a tiny house has it's challenges, and all the renovation nightmares,  I am so happy we got this home.

With the basement almost finished for extra living space I think we can make this work for us.

Hugs,
Kris :)

  1. Oh, happy day!!!! I know you are so excited. Yes, there is nothing like your own bed. My mom has a sleep number and just bought a new one. We haven't tried one. Hubby thinks they cost too much.
Have a great weekend and don't overdo with the unpacking.

  2. You know what? the name Peggy suits her wonderfully. I love how the wallpaper looks in your living room. So pretty. Living small is challenging, but the rewards are wonderful. Love that you're repurposing!

  3. I can imagine your excitement to finally move into your new cottage. When I was up to my ears in boxes to unpack, a friend reminded me...one box at a time. That helped a lot to keep from getting overwhelmed with the gazillions of boxes to tackle. I know you'll enjoy making this home your own, Kris.

  4. I love that sign and what it says. I know you are eager to move in, but remember to take it a little slow. It can be overwhelming and wear you completely out.

  6. My heart is melting looking at Peggy in the lovely white chair that Cooper once graced. Is she not the most noble looking girl sitting there? There is something about her that looks both humble and yet queenly.

I am so happy for you all, Kris! While there certainly are challenges in downsizing, I know you are going to meet them all creatively. I love the glimpse of your new wallpaper! The armoire will be stunning holding your kitchen goods.

Thanks for posting, even as busy as you are,

  8. Happy home coming Kris. You and Terry deserve this wonderful home and life. You have strived very hard . No way, could this here old girl help you move much in those temperatures. Yikes. We helped my daughter Kathy move her things to a storage place and she moved in with her older sister(Angie) for a few months...praying my girl can get a job and then an apartment she can love. She's starting her life over. Please in one whisper to God..send up a prayer for Kathy. I appreciate it. I know the power of prayer. Love the happy dog. :):) Blessings to you my sweet friend, xoxo, Susie

  10. Awww, Peggy! I hope she's a cuddler, Kris. I helped with two moves this summer, plus did a lot of painting, so I hear you on not being the weak sister! While it's a lot of work, I hope you get to enjoy the process of making your tiny cottage yours.

  24. KRIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY! This is super exciting, but wouldn't ya know it, you're moving in on one of the hottest FALL weekends! It was 95 here yesterday and will be in the mid 80s this weekend!

You made me laugh when you said you had a "hug fest" with your bed! teehheheheeheh I can feel it. I can understand! Your whites are going to be stunning in this darling doll house and I like the idea of your armoire serving as an extended kitchen pantry. You and Terry will pull it all off so beautifully and WE WANT to see it!

  26. Best.Day.Ever. This is such a happy post! Kris, how was your sleep last night? I hope totally dreamy! I know sometimes all the hard work can make for a fitful sleep/no sleep, so I hope it wasn't that. And Peggy being in a new house again....hopefully it was just a fun, new place to smell new things. :) Wait till she figures out it's all hers! Be sure to take rests in this heat. It already looks great.

  38. HI Kris,
So exciting to see you moving in, I love a new move, it's so fun to move things about a new space letting each piece tell me where it wants to be placed. Sometimes we feel a piece doesn't work because it's to big and later we settle into our spaces realizing a piece once to big is just perfect, adding grandure to the space where the big piece demands attention. I've done just that in my small quaint living sitting room.
As for the armoire use as part of the kitchen storage, I love floating kitchen where cupboards and armoires are used as pantry use. I think with you get things sorted and placed you will be pleasantly surprised as to how big your petite cottage will live.

Peggy girl is marking her spot and settling into her new home perfectly.
I can't wait to see your home completely set up and another sharing post so we can Ooooh! And Ahhhh! Your cottage life.
I have small cottage envy, especially in your neighborhood that feels so comforting.

    Xx

I love Peggy in the chair! She's such a sweetheart, and there's something about big floppy ears that's so endearing and just crack me up!

Great idea about the armoire. I just know whatever challenges you face you two will rise above. In fact, who needs Chip and Joanna when we've got you two??! Not me!

  55. I truly can't wait to see how you make this home your own, Kris!! I adore the wallpaper and curtains in the living room already....and isn't it just the BEST to have your own cozy bed to fall into at the end of a long day? Miss Peggy and my little Miss Molly are in the same boat with housebreaking - we have good days and then some not so good days, as to be expected. She's such a little lovebug I can't possibly be mad at her!
