Sadness

I dreaded the day I would be writing this post on my blog but the day has arrived.  Little Cooper our basset hound lost his battle with cancer today.  He lived a year past when he should have with the aggressive cancer.  With the new cancer medication and lots of love this little guy had a good life for the past year.

We enjoyed every second with this guy.  He made our hearts grow bigger with every day we could love him and make him part of our family.

This big lug of love on his adoption day a year ago.  We were so excited to get this guy from the rescue and give him a good home.

He actually smiled like this for the whole 6 hour car ride home to his forever home with us.

He was such a happy little guy.

Cooper and I shared the love of white slipcovered furniture lol!  He loved my white chair and made it his own very quickly.

Good bye sweet boy we will miss you.  You rescued us and gave us such love.  May you find peace and love over the Rainbow Bridge.

Thank you to each and everyone of you that shared Cooper's story and always had love and prayers and good wishes for him.  His journey in life was shortened by cancer but his love he gave will fill our hearts for a million years.

  2. Oh Kris, I have dreaded seeing this news about Cooper. I understood that it would come but I am bawling now. He touched my heart so much. He was so handsome and those eyes had such soulfulness in them, such a look of contentment with his life with you and your husband.

God bless you in this time of hurting and sorrow. I want to thank you for giving Cooper a last home that was so loving.

We knew this day would come but it is never easy. Little Cooper got a year when they said only weeks to maybe a month or two so we were blessed to see him get this much time. He is at peace and out of pain. Thank you for your sweet and kind words for me today.
      Means so much.

  20. I am so sorry. He looked so cute on his way home and in your white chair; they always have the best of taste. We lost our adopted Flame Pointe, Jack last week, and Anya about five months ago, both adopted rescue kitties. Jack was a senior and developed cancer. It's the good year that you were able to give him that made it worth it. I'm so sad for you. Too many loses for you. The new home and new work for your spouse are good signs ahead. xoxo Su

  24. So sorry to hear Cooper's race is over. I like to believe he is now running and playing with Jesus. If there's the lion and lamb laying together and white horses to ride, surly God has dogs and cats waiting for us to join them....maybe God had another doggie for you, not to replace Cooper but to fill another need in your life.

  25. Our fur babies hold a very special place in our hearts...Knowing that his life would be shortened by his disease would not prepare you for the inevitability of his loss. I am so sorry that he was unable to make the move to your knew home with you. I had imagined him enjoying his new big yard. We lost our black and tan cocker spaniel quite suddenly in November. At ten years young he was always so active running our fence line to try to catch the cats who teased him from the top. One morning he just wasn't himself and then he was gone. So devastating! For now we give all our puppy love to our 3 year old maltshipoo. I think it does ease some of the pain to have another pet to cuddle and love on...but everyone needs to make the choice in their own time. Love and hugs to you and Terry. Thanks for giving Cooper a wonderful home and family for his remaining time.

  27. Dear Kris, my email response came a day too late, but here I am, in tears.

The photos themselves speak of the transforming power of kindness and love that even the animals know. You were there for him during the temporary time that all of us have, both human and beast. He had happy days in the sunshine with you. You did all that you could and he took it much farther than expected. He lived longer than anyone could imagine.

    Love you, friend.

I am so sorry at the loss of sweet Cooper. I learned so much from you the day you learned of his cancer, your loving, caring nurturing heart gave him so much love, and it taught me the old school lesson of the glass half full. Going through so much in my own life and witnessing your reaction made me reavaluate my own half filled glass. I am sure he is in heaven as I am sure you and Terry were the only happiness that sweet dog ever had. I am so heartbroken for you and all the hurdles you have had this last year. I can only imagine how hard this post must have been. Thanks for being such a good momma to him. Kindest regards, Rachelle

He was happy and feeling so good almost all days until the end. Thanks so much for your visit. Hope you come back to read this since I did not know how to contact you back.
