Fun Market and White Cabinets

Hi Everyone.  Happy Saturday.

I took a "Mental Health" day yesterday and went out with a friend to a fun market I want to share with you.  It was my friends birthday celebration together.  We had a great time.

This is a fun market we go to each year called Nellie's Barn Sale.  Lot's of great vendors.

I loved these mugs.  The tractor says Rush Hour and the old milk cans above on that mug say Morning Latte.  Just too cute.

A really fun place to sit and rest after shopping!!!!

A fun place to sit and have a frosty or warm beverage.

One of my fave vendors is Jeanine at Chippy Shabby.  One of the sweetest.  I have so many of her chippy white treasures in my home.  It was fun to see her.

Jeanine had this cute pillow in this absolutely adorable metal cart in her booth.

This booth had lots of fun vintage camping.

My friend captured this beautiful angel to take home.  Isn't she  sweet.  Cute story about this sweet angel.  She is very very heavy for such a little thing.  Both of us with our hands full started to the car.  My friend was struggling with her to get to the car.   As we were heading out this man came out of nowhere and said ladies can I be of assistance and help you.  OMG what an angel.  He hoisted this sweet angel up in his arms and walked with us to the car.  It was angelic and divine intervention to have this man come out of a sea of women and offer to help us.  Made us both smile.

Now on to the kitchen!!!!!

On the door going to our basement in the kitchen I hung this old frame and knob hanger to bling up the door and have a place to hang my apron.

Ok I did not like the antique finish I did to the cabinets last week!  So we took them back to white.

Much better in white.

Sometimes you have to play with paint to find out what you like best.  I think the classic white cabinets looks the best in my kitchen.

The sun is shining this morning.  It is chilly sweater weather this week end for us but with the sun out it feels great.

Hope you all have a great weekend and wonderful start to the new week.
Hugs,
Kris

  1. What a fun trip! I want that bear pillow with the marshmallows- that would be so cute on the porch in winter. You girls did have an angel appear. I know that feeling- struggling to carry all your loot to the car is hard work. The thought makes me laugh at memories of me and my friend doing that and collapsing in giggles as we nearly dropped our treasures. These markets are so fun.
Well, I have to say I had a feeling that you would revert back to the white cabinets. It's your nature- you can't fight it! ;)
Have a great chilly weekend! (of which I am entirely jealous) xo, T.

  2. I thought I loved the cabinets with the gray distressing until I read this post and saw how they looked white. Great transformation on the storm door. Glad the angel made it safely home. My favorite item was the Farm to Fork sign. Very creative. A chilly weekend!?! What's that?

  3. Kris, I am so happy to see that you know Jeanine. She has some fun things. Love the story of the man helping out. The doorknob for a hanger on the door is adorable. I did like the gray wash paint you did...but the white just makes all the goodies in your kitchen pop. :) Like you said painting is easy decorating....gotta see how some things work at times. Blessings for a fabulous weekend with your handsome man. xoxo, Susie

  6. Kris, I wish I'd been there with you! What a fabulous Barn Sale. Jeannie sure did have a lot of great items for sale. I also liked the Farmhouse booth!
I like your cabinet painted solid also. I tried the rustic look with my own at first but ended up painting them over too. Your whole kitchen is looking shabbilicious!

  8. Hi Kris! I have got to go to a Nellie sale one of these days - I've heard so many great things about them. Your door spruce up has me eyeing up some of MY doors - yours is so cute. I am enjoying our cooler temps, even though I know that means the snow will be falling in the next month or so. Have a super weekend. Jane

  11. what a fun market to visit. Love that they had vintage seating...I can imagine having a hot chocolate or cider while sitting there for a spell. I saved that picture to a Pinterest board I have called "Take a Seat". I am always looking for chair inspiration. I like to paint and reupholster simple chairs...one of these days I may tackle a more difficult one such as these. I bet Terry's eyes were rolling when you went back to white on the kitchen cabinets. Did you have to repaint or were you able to simply wipe off glaze? Have a wonderful Fall weekend.

  12. That outdoor market looked nice! I love going to stuff like that. I know how heavy those cement statues can be. I have one outside that is made of solid cement. No way I could carry that very far on my own!

  20. I love those kind of days! Shopping with a friend is so much fun, and a great way to have a mental health day. Oh the stories I could tell on one of my shopping buddies. We have gotten into some fixes while out. Glad you had a fun day, and I could have done some major damage at that sale!

  22. Great post Kris. I am afraid that I have been so busy doing nothing that I haven't read any of the blogs. Shame on me.

Like the cabinets very much - everything looks wonderful.

  25. What a great way to celebrate a birthday. You girls obviously had a lot of fun. Good thing that there are still some gentlemen out there who offer to carry heavy treasures.
I'm not really amazed that you went back to white and I guess, Terry wasn't either. ;)

  28. What a fun place, I found things I want just by looking at the photos :) Yes I think white kitchen cabinets are timeless and you'll never get tired of them. I repaint mine once a year the same white every time and still love them.

  32. Shopping with a friend with all that wonderful chippy stuff is bliss! I like the "rush hour" mugs. What a gentleman to help with the angel...not too many of those left... The cabinets do look better white...you never know until you try tho... The doorknob for your apron is perfect.

  33. Fun sale to attend with a girlfriend. I admire your willingness to give things a try in your home and the energy to put it back the way it was if it's not to your liking! The old picture frames sure do add a lot of character to your doors and the doorknob is a cute hanger for your apron!

Our youngest daughter and I are having a sale at her country home to sell her stash of vintage furniture. We're holding it in 2 weeks and it's going to be freezing outdoors! I'm hoping for sunshine and lots of customers willing to drive 15 miles out of their way.

Hope the sun is shining down on you today!

  53. Hi Kris! What a fun market you attended! Did you buy any goodies? I have a few more of your posts to catch up on so maybe I'll find out there. In always behind but I love reading all of your posts! That man who carried your friend's angel was a real blessing! That little thing must be solid concrete or something! Glad you went back to the white cabinets. I did like the finish too but am really a white cabinet lover. So happy this house has them so I didn't have to paint them like at our old house! As you know, that can be a real job, very time consuming! Glad you're enjoying cooler weather! Take care@ 💜, Leena
