Junk Chic Cottage Comes To A Close

I want to say how much I have appreciated all your prayers and good wishes for us this past year.

As many of you know Terry lost his position as Fire Chief at a Fire Department he loved.  It's been a hard and sad time in our lives.

It has been so helpful to him to have connections with the men and women of his last fire department.  They relay to Terry how much they miss his leadership, how he cared about their welfare and the welfare of the community and how much he is missed.  That makes him feel good that his 7 years of service to this department as their fire chief made a difference and was well appreciated.  It is nice to know that the community and men and women that serve on that department knew what an asset he was there.

The search for a new job has been a challenge over these past months.  Terry is well respected and very qualified in his field.  Terry found himself among 200 + applicants with each job potential and would always get down to the final two or three with each job.  With that said there has been a lot of competition, politics and just plain crazy!!!!  Wooo some times it was like Twilight Zone stuff!!!!

So as a lot of you know we sold our home at Thanksgiving and are getting ready to close the end of this month.  Since Terry does not have a new job yet we are going to our Plan B.

God has been good to us and has blessed us in many ways after all that has happened.  Sometimes you have to have bad things happen in life to see what is really important and how blessed you are and how a bad thing in life can turn into a much better opportunity.

So I thank you for your never ending prayers, friendship and encouragement for us as we have traveled through this last year's journey.

I will be closing Junk Chic Cottage blog for a short time as I pack up this cottage and prepare for our move.

I thought I would post some pictures of Junk Chic Cottage over these past 3 years of my blogging adventure with all of you.

We have loved our  Cottage and have many wonderful memories in this beautiful home.  I know I will love another home but until then I will enjoy my last days here at Junk Chic Cottage as we pack up our lives for our next adventure.

So this is not farewell but a short good bye as we start into our new adventure.  Hello 2016!!!

I'm not surprised at all how much Terry was loved and respected, and God is waiting for just the right job to place in his path. I enjoyed your little stroll down memory lane of your beloved cottage. You will always have fond memories of this home and blogging about it, and I look forward to seeing what's to come for you! Good luck with all the packing and moving and we'll catch up when you 'sign on' again. xoxo

  9. Your home is so beautiful and it is good to hear that someone has bought it. We have had homes near by that have been on the market for almost a year and not sold. Moving from a home is both sad and exciting. I hope that your Hubby finds a job soon in this new year and looking forward to how you decorate your new home. My prayers are with you and your family for good things this year.

  14. We had the same problem here some years ago. My husband, that was 63 (we retire at 65 here in Sweden) lost his job and he looked for a new job for a long time. He applied for more than 250 jobs!! At last he got a job 175 kms from home, and that made him stay there for half a year and only come home during the weekends. That was a boring time. Then he got a job in our nearest Town and now, that he's finally retired (!) he's began to work again!! The pensions are very low in this country so people need to work to get some extra Money.
Thankfully we never had to leave our Little green cottage. Hope to get news from you where you will live and hopefully that Terry has got himself a job. I pray he will.
    Have a great 2016.
    Love Elzie

  16. Your photos are lovely and it was enjoyable to see them all! Thank you for sharing Kris. What fun you'll have working your magic in a new home! How wonderful that Terry's co-workers have shown their appreciation and been so supportive of him during this time. My prayers for you both will continue as you move ahead. May God's peace surround you and your family, Sweet friend. The very best of wishes for a bright 2016!

    Love and hugs to you,

  23. Wishing you lots of luck! I was laid off almost 5 years ago and had to completely start over from scratch. We lost our house in a short sale as well as all of our savings. And even though I found a job in just 6 weeks, I make less than half of what I did before. It's been a struggle for sure but we are slowly climbing back from the ruins. It sounds like you have faith and a lot of support and will come out on top soon enough. Enjoy your break and I hope for nothing but the best for you!

  33. I can understand the "not knowing" right now. Once your Plan B takes over you will be in a happy place. I prayed and prayed about our house selling. Let me go back a minute. About 6 years ago our house was on the market. I only lasted about 5 months before we removed the listing. I must say at the time the real estate marked bottomed out. We had made many changes before we listed our house. So then about 4 years later we put it back on the market. More changes again. We were listed 6 months. Right at Christmas time we took it off the market again knowing we would relist with a new realtor at the beginning of the year. That was last March. We got our first offer in November. I had just called the realtor and said I couldn't go through this anymore. We buried St Joseph in the front yard and also said that prayer ever day. I was convinced that this was not the plan we were to take. Then four days later came the offer. We didn't have a place to go. We thought about renting or even buying a condo that we didn't like because those were the only things in demand at the time. Then our realtor listed this condo three days after we got our offer. I think I am now a believer that God does answer prayers but on his time. Everyone said to be patient. Geez, I think I was. But I am so thankful now for the timing. Maybe something is just around the bend for you. Maybe you are to be free of your sweet home so that you can be go places you hadn't expected. Don't take too long to come back to us. Hugs.

I hope that things will work out for you and Terry VERY soon. You've been waiting for so long now. I know what it's like to play the waiting game with a stressful situation. What we leave behind opens doors we thought we would never enter and when we do we cant imagine ever going back. 92. So fun to see the evolution of your home over the past 3 years, Kris. You have refined your style beautifully and I know your next home will be amazing, just as this one is. I always leave your blog posts inspired by both your "decor crazy" and your wonderful outlook on life. This time is no different. Just looking at the massive number of commenters here and the words they've left, one can see the impact you've made in your corner of the world. God bless you and Terry, my friend. I look forward to seeing what God has planned for you. Hugs, Nancy

  93. You are a special lady Kris, and your beautiful home reflects that. It looks like something out of a fairy tale!

I guess this means terry didn't get the job you were both hoping for (or maybe you don't know yet?).

Life is full,of challenges, but it's equally full of blessings, which you have many of. You have the right attitude, and in time all will be ok.

You will be missed, but know we all will be pulling for you and look forward to hearing about your adventures.

  94. Oh, Kris, I was so upset when I read the title post, and thought you were closing up for good! Your home is a special place, and although I know it is hard to leave it, how wonderful to have your blog that has documented it all, and can bring it back to life with the click of a mouse. Wishing you well as you start this next chapter...good things are sure to come. We will all be here waiting for you when you return! Love and hugs, Amy

  95. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Terry going into the next chapter of your life....which brings me to tell you this. Before Ken and I made the final decision to sell the farmhouse and downsize (for many different reasons) there were days of sadness, anger, struggles, complaining and wondering if it would be the right thing to do. This had been my dream home for 17+ yrs....in some ways it didn't seem right but I knew in my heart, it was time. I prayed to the Lord for peace about it, unsure of our future. One morning after prayer, I was sitting on the edge of my bed and the Lord spoke to my spirit and said.."instead of looking at this situation the way you have been....see it as a blessing." From that moment on, my thinking changed. Yes, I loved my farmhouse, I loved my garden...it was where I raised my son. That Home had been a blessing from God with wonderful memories! A few months later, I passed the keys to another family with joy in my heart because I knew God had another blessed chapter in my life! I love your positive attitude Kris...You couldn't have said it any better. Your home was so beautiful...not only could you see the beauty, but one could feel the love/beauty for it! Enjoy your break and take care...hugs xoxo Roxie

  103. I haven't visited in a while, as my computer has malfunctioned and alas visiting your lovely blog Is just not the same on my phone.
I will miss all your decor inspiration, but not as much as your positive and loving attitude of all your posts. Escaping into your world has gotten me through many a lonely day.
Although I have chosen to stay home to take care of my hubby, I am often lonely for the fellowship and companionship that can be found in a work
place. Your blog and your followers have become pseudo friends to me.
For now I wish you ado...promise not to stay away too long dear.
Blessings to you and yours as you embark on this new quest

  128. Kris I hate that you and Terry are having to go thru this. I know how hard it has to be to leave a home that you two created with love. I hope that you continue to feel the loving arms wrapping around you from this that love you so much! May God give you the strength to start on this journey before you. We may not always understand at the time why things happen but in the end God always places us exactly where we need to be. I know you two will flourish in your new home with time.

I wish only the best for you and I'll pray some more that Terry gets another job and that you find the perfect home.
