RH Cottage Country Magazine, Road Side Treasure preview and Fun Gift

Happy Sunday.  Hope that the week end is going great.

Today I am going to post on my "tiny" feature in RH Cottage Country Special Magazine and a Road Side treasure preview along with a low maintenance fun gift.

This is a special edition Cottage Country magazine presented by Romantic Homes.
I know a lot of you know the beautiful Gay Van Beek from Canterbury Cottage Designs blog that writes for RH.  She did a special feature in this magazine on creating easy cottage style.

Remember my dishwasher cover up I did. Gay used it in her piece showing how I made my dishwasher look cottage with some old picture frames and salvage pieces.  If you want to see my post you can see the post here.

Gay wrote an inspirational feature on how to get the fresh cottage look in your home.

There is lots of soft serene whites for those of us that love the neutrals and softer white decor.

Love Poetic Cottage's lovely white serene home.

There is pastels for you sweet softly colored cottage decor lovers.

The magazine has pretty light aqua and blues that are so popular right now.  So if you want a nice RH special edition magazine look in your local grocery store for this one.  It is loaded with beautiful inspiration.

Terry and I decided to take a ride out on some country roads near our home and while out driving down a dirt road in the middle of nowhere (sounds like a country music song)  I saw this cabinet sitting out front of this little consignment shop.  I yelled to Terry to OMG "Stop the Car"!!!

We got out and saw this old secretary cabinet top and inquired the price.  $20 and I said to Terry "Start the Car"!!!

So I will have a post this week on my re love of this piece and where she is now hanging in my home.  Her light inside the cabinet works too.  Bonus!!!  I know it will come as a shock "NOT" but she got some white paint!! Stay tuned to see her pretty new look.

The fun Gift.  I have a special friend that told me about this lavender scented toilet paper she got when she visited her daughter out in Ohio.   She brought me back some and OMG I loved it.  It makes your bathroom smell like sweet lavender.

She gifted me with this from her trip this past week to see her daughter.  We cannot get this scented tissue here in the Chicago land area.  I have looked!!!

I am a pretty low maintenance gal gift me with Lavender scented toilet paper and I am excited!  Isn't it amazing how the littlest fun things just make us smile.  Sandy I love my tissue and my bathrooms smell so sweet like Lavender.
I hope they will get it in our area soon.  It is the best.  If you can find this by you I highly recommend this.  Your bathroom will smell so sweet.

Well my friends have a wonderful start to the new week ahead.

  1. Kris, I am going to look for this magazine. I get the Romantic Homes every month...I do not do my style in romance but I love the way it looks. I told my daughter about your dishwasher make-over. She said you were clever. I told her she had NO idea how clever you could be. LOL. I can just see Terry getting rear ended one day. LOL.....Those emergency quick stops. Can't wait to see the new piece. Blessings to you, xoxo,Susie

  7. Congratulations on yet another feature, Kris! You two are totally deserving of all the press with your ability to transform just about anything into a gorgeous feature. I can't wait to see the secretary top transformed because I have one sitting in a corner of a bedroom waiting to be painted, too. It's going to look so pretty painted in your signature white! 13. How lovely Kris. I always like the special feature magazines. The Poetic Cottage is Mea's of Mea's Vintage blog in Germany. I look forward to seeing her feature. She has been in JDL so you have probably seen her there.

I have not seen the lavender toilet paper. I wish they would make rose scent. I love lavender and grow it in my garden but I have a mild allergy to it so I rarely have it in the house. But ahh yes to simple pleasures.

  14. Kris, you make me laugh! I am right there with you and your scented toilet paper excitement. I am very easy to please, a box of Mallowmars is one of my favorite things to receive. Enjoy your new treasure! ;-) Congrats on the feature. It is very exciting and truly well deserved. Your dishwasher fix is seriously one of the most creative, original and truly ingenious DIYs I have seen in my years here in blogland. Fabulous! I think you and Terry should make them up and sell them...or patent it and sell it to Kraftmaid or the like.

  15. You are amazing. I don't know how you find the great deals you run across. I can't wait to see what you do with that cabinet. Of course it will be white ... chippy ... and wonderful!

  17. Congratulations on your feature in the lovely Cottage Country magazine. That new piece has gorgeous lines and it reminds me of one my co-worker had hung in her upstairs hallway filled with linens. Looking forward to seeing how you display it.

  18. I have not seen that tp sold in my area, but we buy ours at Costco anyway. We buy the Kirkland brand. That's a pretty neat invention though! I love the cabinet you found. I can't wait to see it. I think painting it white is what I would've done too. What a huge score! I can't believe it was only $20. Congrats on being featured in another magazine! That looks like a good one too. I haven't seen that out yet either. I will have to look for it.

  21. Kris, congratulations on the feature! That is so cool and I love the look of your dishwasher! I'm so excited for you!!! The TP is totally awesome. Angel Soft used to have a floral pattern tissue -- the flowers were pink with little green flowers! I loved it! It is so hard to find it now. I think they only put it out every so often!

  23. Congrats Kris,,,so very happy for you! It definitely deserved being featured! For a cleaner fresher lavender smell just drop a few drops of Lavender oil on the inside of the paper roll that hold the toilet paper, every time the roll turns your'll smell the lavender oil

    1. Thanks Deb for your visit. Yep you have to check out this toilet paper it is so nice. I hope you can find it by you. It is hard to find. Hey I did not do neutrals and white until my girls were grown and on their own. I still struggle with the light colors and my dog lol! So this decor style is not a practical one but one I love and now can have. Life is too short to now surround yourself with what you love even if you have to do a little more laundry with the whites lol! Have a great beginning to the new week.

  39. Oh Kris, I am laughing with JOY because I can imagine and hear you say, "OMG, STOP THE CAR!" WHAT A FIND! I can see it, I can see it with your white and chippy TOUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am thrilled for you that you will be featured in this mag! And the "Poetic Cottage" - that is Méa's house, she is a blogger in Germany! Do you know her blog? MÉAS VINTAGE. If you don't know her blog, go. You will swoon.

Your kitchen is my dream. All I have to do is paint it white and get rid of this linen press that is covering up the window. I was supposed to haul it over to a consignment shop this weekend just six blocks down, but it's pretty heavy and my neighbor and Ruben would have helped me...but I was not feeling up to it.

We too went down some fun country roads yesterday to go to MAMMA'S HAPPY, a seasonal vintage and white chippy shop! There were horses, cornfields, mansion/farmhouses, chickens, sheep....only 35 minutes west of the cosmopolitan metro!

WELL, you have lots to do! Get that cabinet painted and wow us...I'll be on the watch! Anita

  40. Kris you are too kind! And also seriously funny gf. I remember one day, long ago, I was dropping the kids off at a friend's house and saw a wicker chair in someone's trash. I made my kids stand there until I could go home and get the truck to pick it up. They were SO mad and embarrassed, but it sits on my porch to this day. Keep doing what you do gf. Seeing the pretty is a gift.

  41. Hi Kris! I have not seen that magazine come on the new stands yet and know I am chopping at the bit to find one! Congrats!!!!!!!! Love the toitty paper. I have bed pillows that smell like lavender, I love them. Your find is fabulous, the doors on it are so amazing. Can't wait to see what you are going to do with it. :) Have a wonderful new week. Jo

  45. Congratulations on the magazine feature Kris - well deserved!!! I love the way Sandy gifted your scented toilet paper with tulle. Now I'm on the hunt for some. If I can't find it I'm thinking maybe if you put dried lavender inside the roll of the toilet back it would not only scent the room but the paper too. Just a thought! Looking forward to seeing what you've done with the hutch.

  46. Oh Kris, lucky you to find that cabinet section for just $20!! And the t. paper - sounds great, so I'll be on the look out for that - thanks. No magazine feature is tiny - that's an awesome acknowledgment of both your vision and Terry's skills. I bet he's pretty psyched about the feature too, isn't he? Even though I don't have the predominant cottage style - white, neutral, or pastels - I am still in love with it. I'll be looking for that publication too. Congrats!

  47. Well, bless your heart, Kris...I am soooo impressed that your beautiful decorating can be found in this magazine. I am NOT surprised, tho....you have a unique decorating style and I love it.....so does everyone else.
Congratulations, dear heart....you so deserve to be between the covers of a beautiful magazine.
And, I am green with envy over that $20 find.....

  50. Kris, after finding a coupon for this toilet paper in our paper, I started looking for it. We already purchase this brand, but it took months for the stores to catch up with the coupon. Every time I looked it hadn't been stocked yet. When I finally did get it, I really liked the way it made our small guest bath smell. So nice ! And the new cabinet.... luscious !! What a lucky find !

  51. Got the magazine - check
    Envied the cabinet - check
Laughed at the TP - check!
Great way to start my day. Thank you so very much, Kris.
