New Year New Changes Sneak Peak

Well Christmas is over and since I decorate way before Thanksgiving I am ready to see some of my decor come down after Christmas.  Don't you just hate that dull feeling in the rooms after all the Christmas pretty comes down?!

It is motivating me to do some painting and change ups in the Dining Room.

This was my Christmas Dining room.  All has been taken down and packed away.

Everything and I mean everything came down in the dining room and is getting ready for  new paint and new look.

My dining room is entertainment central when we all gather together.  So this room is used a lot at holidays and everyday.  So after the Christmas came down it felt right to give this room a fresh coat of paint.

This was where the vintage mantel and windows hung.  They are down for the paint and not sure if they will go back up in this space.  I will have to see after we paint what will go back into this room.

The sun is shining and it is almost 60 degrees here so I am taking full advantage of getting the Christmas decor down and we don't have to trek through snow to get to the storage shed to put it all away.

We are having more of a Spring  time than Christmas.  So maybe that is where I am getting the "Spring Cleaning Bug" early and the energy to do some change ups.

Plus I have Terry home for a week so I am totally taking advantage of that man and his tools lol!

Stay tuned to see how my new dining room will look.  I am going for cottage gray and white to blend with my kitchen.  Hope it comes out like I have it visioned in my head!!!

I am enjoying these next few weeks of time off to do fun things with my family and start a few new "fresh ups" for the new year.

See you soon with some results of this dining room refresher.
Happy New Year
Kris

  1. You are raring to go, Kris! : ) I can't wait to see the changes you've made. You will have to post before and after pictures when you are done. I'd like to paint this year, too. We really have to and I need to get a move on in picking out colors.

  6. Wow girl you are even painting. Now that's cleaning up after Christmas for sure. I can't wait to see what you will do next. I'm always ready to get things put away and cleaned. Christmas decor seems like such dust collectors to me and I love a clean place.

  9. I can't wait to see. I'm getting rid of the beige around here too. I've the laundry room and the mancave to do and that will be the end of the yellowish tones. Enjoy your spring like weather.

  12. I took mine down the morning after Christmas Kris. Can't wait to see your new dining room and the changes you make. Bought me a new tool to try out myself. I've got a lot of painting to do and it is supposed to make that job easier so I will see ...

  14. Wow. It warmed up there. It was 74 on Christmas, but a cold front came in and it was 50 here, which is really cold for us. I can't believe it is warmer there than it was here yesterday. I hope it all works out as envisioned, without repainting. I remember that the table took a few steps to get it right. xoox

  15. I am in the process of removing Christmas right now. The bed in the guest room is covered with things that must go up to the attic. I am looking all over blogland for ideas because I have no idea what to put on all my empty surfaces next.

Enjoy an entire week with Terry.

  20. I'm still enjoying mine until after the kids come home, but I'm thinking of a fresh, different coat of paint too. Maybe we can make it happen.

  21. Congrats on gettting you decorations put away. I can not wait to see your new changes. I am going to redo my guest room after the New Year. We always keep the decorations up until the day after New Year. But I am going to try to use things I already have on hand for the make over. I need to use more of what I have and by less. Our storage is getting way out of control.

  22. Hi Chris, well I'm glad I'm not the only one. Every year I take the Christmas decorations down on Boxing Day. I get so many people saying how terrible that is. But when I put the decorations up in mid October, I am keen to have my home back. And with shops all shut, it gives me something to do, including reorganising and redecorating with everyday items. I can't wait to see how you redecorate! x Julie

  23. I put a few things away today and will put the rest of it away over the next few days. Can't wait to see your redecorating. It feels like Spring here too...this is the warmest December that I can remember having in a long time.

  24. Kris! I can't leave you alone for more than a few days without you making some HUGE changes! Was it just yesterday you posted you were taking a little break and would announce a few LITTLE changes for the coming year?? And I thought I was doing pretty good just getting my linens laundered and the outside decor down (we had 60° today too!). Wow, you make me look like a schmuck!

  25. Girl, you make my tired ache. lol! I do not believe that you ever rest! I would love to paint my entire kitchen and family room with pretty white trim, but just not up to the work right now. lol! I am just starting to take Christmas down. I have quite a bit of Wintry decor that will carry me through till the end of January. Had fun styling a New Years mantle today. Can't wait to see what fabulousness you come up with next in your dining room. Happy New Year!

  27. It sounds like it may actually be warmer in Chicago than in AZ. Today's high was 59 and tonight's low is supposed to be 30. A tiny freeze warning has been issued for the area! I put away some of my Christmas dishes and such but plan on taking the rest down in the days ahead. I have to work Mon and Tues but then have 5 days off and plan to get everything cleaned up around here! I look forward to seeing what you do in your dining room area! Enjoy your time together with Terry! Blessings, Cindy

  38. Hi Kris

Do you EVER sit down and relax? LOL. I must confess that if my decorations went up as early as yours I'd probably be happy to put them away now, but as it is, I think we'll keep them up for a few more days yet - it's something pretty to look at when I'm stuck in bed. Really looking forward to seeing what changes you come up with, as you're always so good at giving fresh inspiration.

    Big hugs

  39. We are kindred spirits for sure! I love that you are taking this week to repaint etc... My attic is calling me, I'll be cleaning out and decluttering while you paint. I can't wait to see your transformation. The gray sounds perfect. Since I painted my living room and kitchen gray, I've not had the itch to change it.
    Have fun Kris!
