Door Hoarder!!!!!!

I really think I need a "door hoarder" intervention!!!!!!!

I innocently went to my favorite shop yesterday, Tattered Tiques which I love and there it was calling to me this adorable door.  I mean I tried to walk by it several times and then it started to scream at me and next thing I know it was in my car coming home.

I am not sure what it is about me and old doors but I just cannot say no to them.  They are like those cute little puppies in the window.  Who can resist?!!!

So as I am driving home with my new treasure in the car I was thinking where am I going to hang another door.  I am so out of wall space.  I moved things in the living room and dining room and nope did not work.  Then I finally found a home for this sweet little door in my small guest room.  I still have some tweaking to do to it but I thought I would share the changes in that room so far.

This is my small guest room where I have two twin beds.  I have old garden gates for headboards.

Look at this sweet little skinny door.  How could I resist.  It had adorable vintage door knobs on each side too.

I had the hubster hang the door knob from the other side of the door so I could use both knobs for hanging things.

Just playing around with some things to hang on it.  I haven't quite got it the way I want yet.  Work in progress!!!
I love my little cottage for rent sign.  I have had this little sweet bird house and sign for years.

Here is the other twin bed in this room.  I have the old foot board/chalk board, I got at Tattered Tiques a while ago.  Susan from Maple and Magnolia' made this and sold it at Tattered Tiques.   I hung the little clothes line with vintage baby dresses and my vintage angel.  My little granddaughter sleeps here when she spend the night with us.

There you have it another door adopted by me.  I just cannot help myself when it comes to these old chippy doors.
Hope you had a great week.  The week end is almost here!!!
Please come back tomorrow for Saturday: Spotlight to see the next blogger(s) Susan and I will be featuring.

  6. NOT FAIR!

I look for doors everywhere and they are nowhere near as chippy as yours, but cost a fortune.

I think I need a road trip to Chicago - we can rent a trailer to bring home all the goodies I would pick up along the way.

  7. LOL- I love it, Kris. I am trying to pry a couple of doors from my son that are in the upstairs part of his garage. Wish me luck. I LOVE yours-it is just perfect in your room. I have one small guest bedroom with twin beds, too, that the girls use when they visit. xo Diana

    1. Goedele,
Well if you do it will have a home with me!!!!!! I think I seriously need an intervention. If you bring that a door then you will be a co dependent!!!! Ha Ha!!!! If I get anymore doors I think we will have to put an addition on the house!!!!!

  10. The only reason I did not drag home another door today was my bum shoulder! I have a definite door addiction - every room has extra doors, windows, and mantels. I want to come stay in that serene guest room. Love the garden gates!

And I still love your old gates for headboards, that is just the sweetest thing.

  13. The room looks so nice already. You'll have it just "right" in no time. I'm a "hoarder" of vintage linens (as my friends tell me). I know what you mean.

  17. Oh my goodness! We must be related. I LOVE doors. Love them. I collect them! I have one propped up in my dining room, but another half dozen in the shed waiting for their turn. Tell me -- how do you hang them? I haven't been able to hang my blue door yet, but I worry about it falling down on someone someday. ~Angela~

  18. Love your new chippy door! It looks great where you hung it. You have a door problem....well, don't tell anyone but I have an old window problem. Have several in the house and a bunch more in the shed just waiting to come in the house.
    Have a great weekend.

  21. Oh my words, I love this and am inspired to get my own door. I especially like that you got a 5 panel door as they are harder and harder to come by. Well done. Hugs. tammy

  22. I love this idea. I love that you found a 5 panel door as they are harder and harder to come by just as the 3 panel with glass at the top. Especially the wavy glass. I've been on the hunt but around my parts its become difficult. I think someone got the word out your a door hoarder. :) Well done and a lovely room. Hugs. Tammy

  23. What does it say about the rest of us when we see the headline, "Door Hoarder!!" and must immediately click to see! haha
You are doing what the rest of us WISH we could do. I love all your doors! Maybe there's a specialty shop in your future-"Kris' Vintage Door Emporium" :)
I can't tell you how much I adore those gate headboards! So much charm packed into that darling guest room.

  24. Hi Kris, After I have done my laundry - and yours of course - in your fabulous laundry room, I probably need a litte nap and your adorable guest room would be just perfect for that. May I, please? The garden gates make such great head boards and I a love the chalkboard with the clothes line. You've done your magic in this room too. Your guests are so lucky!
    Have a happy weekend!

  28. Kim... I kept my eyes peeled to see if I might find you at Grayslake today! Nope, but did buy another vintage typewriter and Victorian photo album. Those albums for me are like your doors. I can't seem to get enough especially if the price is low! Unlike you, I am hoarding them at the moment whereas you are putting those sweet doors to good use! I also love that oblong pillow on the bed with the three flowers. Did you make that? And would you mind sharing where this shop is that you found the door, number..... ha, ha! Does it matter what the count is??!!!

  31. I love old doors and windows...so I totally understand! The door looks great already and I know how you feel on getting it just right. Sometimes it takes a few tries for the perfect feeling of "ahh" when you get it. I love it!

    1. Ha ha Melanie!!! Seriously I think I need an intervention!!!! I just cannot say no to a door or window or anything chippy. I found a long side light with a window missing that is chippy and so so cute now I have to figure out what to do with that little sweet thing!!!!! Too many chippy treasures out there to love!!! Have a great week end.

  33. Kris, I'm right there with you. I don't know why, but I too can NOT pass them up. A few times when I've went junkin hubby will say, "just don't bring home and more old doors, windows, and ladders." lol! Like that works, I brought home a ladder the last time he said that. Not intentional, but it was there; too cute and a good price. I love how you hung it on the wall. Hubby and I just hung one sideways in our guest room for a headboard. Still needs some tweaking. Your garden gate headboards are fabulous! Also love the sign hanging over the first bed. Just keep bring those old doors home girl!
    hugs,
    Jann

  35. How many doors have you adopted so far? Don’t they take up much of your space? I don’t understand your fascination with doors, but you style them perfectly. This one is simply a perfect accessory to your cottage guest bedroom. Roosevelt Franklin @ Clear Choice Windows and More
