I have been skirting around the house!!!!
It is another rain filled day here in Chicago Land. Ughhh!!!!

I decided to make some skirts for a few places in my home.  I liked the idea of a skirt under my farmhouse sink.

As many of you know I do not sew. Ok a straight line on the sewing machine but that is about it.  So I found some black and cream tiers on line and just sewed them across the top to make them fit under my sink.  Then I put up a curtain rod and I had a skirt under my kitchen sink!!!!

Simple kitchen sink skirt and little sewing for me!!

On to project number 2. I had an old bench under this window in my laundry room which was cute but not very useful.  So I asked my husband if he would make me a laundry folding table.  It is so much more useful. So as he usually does he went to work on this table for me.

He just took some stock wood and half stair posts for the legs and a pine board for the table.  We then painted it white.  Then I thought hmmmm it needed something else.  So I had some drapes with a great ruffle on them and decided to make it into a skirt for the table.

All the sewing done for me already.  All I had to do is measure and cut and sew a new rod pocket which was just a straight stitch on the sewing machine and I had myself a skirt for the laundry room fold table.

I am always in awe of the bloggers that can sew. Something I never learned so I get excited when I can actually re love something already sewn into something new and exciting.
So there you have it.  A couple of new skirts with some  re purposing and very little sewing.
Love it!!!!!
I am thinking about skirting my vanity in one of my bathrooms next.
Hope you are having a great week end.  Raining here but I feel like I am getting a few indoor projects done.
Kris

  4. Kris, you're just like Samantha on Bewitched. Wiggle your nose and it's done! I love your new kitchen sink skirt and your new laundry folding table is not only cute, you have the added bonus of extra storage space underneath. Well done!

My coffee break is over. Back to my painting projects which seem to be going in slow motion compared to yours. :)

  6. Hi Kris,
I love both the skirts... the one in the kitchen and the one in the laundry room. I never did find that cow sign like you have in your kitchen and I checked at Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and HomeGoods...but I will keep looking every time I go in these stores. I so wish that I had a place to fold clothes in my laundry room...I so dislike having to carry them up the stairs and then fold them.

    Cindy

  10. I really like the black/white skirt on your kitchen sink. It goods terrific!. What a great laundry room - nice folding table and you can hide your laundry basket underneath the table and you won't see it. How great is that. You are such a talented lady - love seeing all your great finds and decorating.
Sorry your weekend is raining - sending a little sun shine your way.

  11. Your black and white skirt looks so nice with all your white. I love the ruffled repurposed skirt in your laundry room! Raining here off and on too! Not a lot done outdoors but I went and bought sheets and hoping to get new curtains up for the pergola without too much sewing and work! LOL Have a good week-end! Nancy

  13. Love your cute kitchen sink skirt, Kris! Love that you used something that was basically sewn up already. The drape you used for your laundry room is just gorgeous! I'm still waiting on my folding table for our laundry room. I'll have to start dropping hints. I've already got plans to skirt it once it is built, especially since our laundry sorter sits in this spot and a skirt will be great to hide it.

Luv your two skirts. I made one for the sink at our other home and have been towing with doing it to this one. Maybe this is the kick in the seat I needed. (ouch!!)

  22. You did an excellent job for someone who claims not to be a seamstress!! That ruffled skirt is the cutest thing I've seen in a long time. I made a skirt for my kitchen sink too and I love how it softens the look of all the hard surfaces kitchens have.

  28. I love those curtains - nice job! I think it is so darling to have a curtain under the sink like you have. And the folding table curtain remake was most excellent. Kudos to you!! Sometimes all you need is straight line sewing to create a new look.

Have a great weekend and coming week. Wishing you some sunshine along with us in Ohio!

  30. Hi Kris! These little skirts are adorable! I love how they hide whatever you want to store underneath and add a little touch of whimsy and beauty to their locations. LOVE that ruffle on the laundry room skirt! That is gorgeous! I don't really sew much either. I try, but other than simple projects, I don't do too well. I always wished I could sew better but I guess we can't be completely perfect, now can we? LOL Enjoy the rest of your creative Sunday! Hugs, Leena

  31. Kris, I love these the one under the folding table in the laundry room is so pretty! Sewing a straight line is more than I can do. I can't even do that. How sad for me when I think of all the projects I would love to do but can't since I have NO sewing skils what so ever.

  43. Hi Kris. Really love the skirt under your folding table. Those ruffles are amazing. I can sew if you don't look too closely at the seams but I have a really hard time with ruffles on anything. I've been picking up curtain valances with ruffles at garage sales, etc. They are already ruffled and just a matter of sewing around the edges. Works out pretty well..Happy Wednesday..Judy
