Switching Can Make A New Look

Sometimes I like to  switch things up and move things around I can get a whole new look for 0$ spent.

Plus switching things up can give new purpose to decor pieces.

This is one wall in my living room where I had the picket fence piece and the old architectural birdhouse and porch post.  They needed to come down and find new purpose.  Ignore the pile in my chair of all the decor off my table.  Keeping it real lol!

This picket found a new purpose on my front door.  I think it is cute and gives a Spring/Summer vibe to my cottage door.

It is so hard to grab a good picture with how the sunshine hits the front of the house.   This gives some cute curb appeal to my entryway.

I cannot wait to be planting flowers and enjoying some much needed warmth and sunshine.  Now the bunny in my wreath has a little picket fence below her.

I am doing some other decor change ups to things around the house.  I love changing things up to get a whole new look.  I love change and love that I can do it for no money spent.

Do you like changing things around in your house to get a new look?

Hope your weekend was fabulous.  Wishing all of you a wonderful start to the new week.

It was 50 degrees here in Illinois today.  Feels so good to us.  Just love when the sun comes out too. I am so over winter and need Spring to arrive and stay and then Summer!!!

Hugs,
Kris

  1. The fence looks great on the door! I change the coffee table, mantel and cabinet top in the foyer once in a while, but it is usually a seasonal change. Have a great Sunday!

  2. Oooeeeemmgeee. Only you would think of this. I love it. I immediately "Pinned" it. So cute. I get to spend a little time out side planting some heather I scored at 50% off. Yesterday rain, today sunshine, tomorrow more rain. House needs attention, but gotta grab the sunshine when you get it. I truly can NOT wait to see your yard transformations. Hurry spring!

  9. I love your door with the picket fence on it. You have given me a great idea for my door. Hopefully it will work.

I love to change things around also. I know my room mate thinks I'm crazy as she is not into any kind of decorating. She just rolls her eyes with my dishes LOL.

We are getting a lot of rain which is much needed. I am hoping that you have sunshine week and warmth also.

    Lots of hugs,

    Mary

  10. Hi Kris,
The picket fence sure looks cute on your front door. How did you attach it? I have a big piece I want to put on my front door but I don't know what to use to hang it. Keep in mind that I do not have a "Terry." Mr. Sissie isn't so handy and I usually do these things myself! LOL! I just love everything you do. You have such a magic touch.
    hugs,
    Sissie

  13. The picket fence on your front door is the cutest thing! I absolutely love that.

I am getting better about changing things around. I'm so bad about liking something and leaving it the same for far too long.

  14. that picket fence on the door is just adorable, such a fun idea! I don't have room to move furniture around much, so I have to change up the smaller decor items, but it does bring a new look which is what I love doing.

  15. Kris, what a GREAT IDEA! How did you attach the pickett fence? And it's amazing how just a few slight adjustments in décor can make you so happy and change the look. This weekend, I simply changed how a chair was facing in my front room, and just that made such a difference in how the room looks. I also took down some winter décor in my studio and added some pink glass with candles, hung a pink leather tote on my door, and WOW, it's stunning.

    Keep on with the inspiration!

  16. Oh, gosh, that's so cute, Kris! I wish I had not only the tools to make changes like that feel nice and sturdy (and the patchwork behind inconspicuous), but it also takes guts! You've got both, and the end results are fun to see. I'm afraid of putting holes in walls, so it's the little things I move. ;) Digging up dirt and the possibility of hitting wires doesn't seem to bother me though. :O

  17. Wow, I love the new look of your front door. It is so cottage-y.

Switching things around does give you a different outlook and perspective with your life. I'm doing some of that myself.

    1. Hi Mary,
The door is a stock all season entry door from Home Depot. So Terry took a Two screws one on each end of the fence and screwed it into the door. We will have two holes in the door but you can spackle it with a filler and then retouch with paint when I take it down. Terry used a really long screw to make sure it went through the fence and the door to secure it and it does not move. Hope that helps.

  22. Hi Kris, love the pickets piece on the front door. So right, perfect for spring and summer. I like changing things up. John not so much. He has to fill holes and touch up. He a master at touching up paint to make it look seamless. MS or no, I can't hammer to save my life. He always says stick making things pretty and I will move stuff for you 😉.

Have a good start to your week

  28. Love the picket fence on the front door! It's like opening a gate instead of a door to enter the house. I agree with Miss Brenda...I bet a lot of folks walking or driving by would love to see inside your home. You have the best ideas and the best "partner in crime". xoxo

  42. It us amazing how changing things around or using in different ways can make things look new again. I might have to not only take the picket fence but the door along with it! I’ll try and pick a warmer night when you both are sleeping so you won’t caught a draft! Congrats on your feature!!!!

  44. I too will chime in with everyone else and commend you for the great idea for your door! That is one cute door and porch now (was before too).......... and how charming from the road. Amazing how a few things can add so much personality.. and love the little "cottage" sign over the porch. I think our door is a metal door but I suppose screws would work on that too.. if you have the right kind. I don't think hubby would go for it though.. and also... I don't think I trust him to put screws into our door! He isn't so handy and things always seem to go wrong when he tries to fix something or do something "handy"!! I love your wreath there also. I bet your neighbors walk by and wonder what next fun addition they'll see at your cottage!

  45. Oh... I forgot to add.... I hardly EVER change things up! We've been here for 2-1/2 years now, and I think everything is exactly the same as it was when we moved in! I may have added a few more pictures (as hubby as a thing for buying pictures for the wall).... and a few knick knacks, but that's about it. I think it is time for a change. I've been thinking about doing some changing in our living room.. but don't ever seem to get around to it. Sigh.... someday........
