Basement Renovation Update

Hi Everyone.

Here is a video of the basement renovation.  Instead of taking a million pictures of all the spaces I decided to video the progress.

Hopefully very soon we will be able to have the inspector in to check the electrical and framing. Then we can have the dry wall and ceiling, doors, trim etc. installed.

We are way past our move in date of July 1st and it is now looking like the second week in August!  Keeping my fingers crossed we will make this date for our move in!!

I really need a home!

Hope to show you a final reveal soon.

Kris

  1. Kris, That is a good sized basement. I know when all the work is done you will make a beautiful place there. I like that Terry will have a space for all his collection and an office. You are about doubling the size of your house . Thank goodness you both are hard workers. You know you are in my prayers and thoughts always. Bless you both. xoxo, Susie

  2. Kris, HELLO! I love being able to "hear" my blogger pals' voices, and yours is so sweet! What a great idea to do a video. YOUR BASEMENT SPACE IS HUGE! And what I love is that you guys do things right. So complete and thorough are your plans. When you are done, this house is going to be a gem. I bet you can't wait to get in and decorate! OK, hang in there; you can do this!

    1. Hi Cecilia I had to down load the video to U Tube to get it to work on my blog. I downloaded it to my computer and even tried pasting it with blogger and it would not let it play so I finally just put it up as U Tube video and it then would let me copy it to my blog. I too am not computer savvy! I am sure there is another way to do this but at midnight last night I had enough of playing around with it! So used the U Tube way. Have a great summer day.

  8. Progress may be behind but it is moving forward and things are looking good. I know you two will be so glad when the building phase is over and you can move in and set up your home with all of the things that you love and enjoy.

  9. The video is a wonderful way for us all to "tour" your basement. It was nice to hear your voice. Your plans for the basement will be great when finished. You are taking advantage of all the little nooks and crannies for storage. In a small house that is a necessity. Things are moving along but it probably seems like a snail's pace to you. Thank you for sharing the steps with us. We could all come and help but we'd probably just be in the way...ha! xoxo

You're making wonderful improvements to your cottage. It will be fun to see it all finished. I know your anxious, but all the waiting will be worth it in the end. Hugs.

  15. Your basement has so much space! It looks like you have a lot of headroom for a basement, too. I love walk-out basements, and you have such nice windows in your laundry room. I know this sounds odd, but I will never own a house without a window in the laundry room. Seriously, it's on my top five must have list! Being horse people I live in mine, and I want it to be as cheerful as possible.

Great tour! I want more as you complete project. You're a good videographer!

  17. What a great way to show us the space! I would love a storage room that size and your laundry room is so big too! Great idea to utilize the area under the stairs. You can't ever have too much storage space. :)

  20. Kris you have a great sized basement. I can picture it all decked out in your decor already. I know you are anxious to move in and I have my fingers crossed for you that your construction moves along quickly. The video is a great idea, you really get a clear picture of the room and I loved hearing your voice. Emails are awesome, but there's nothing like someone's voice! xoxo

  24. We generally do not have basement around here. I must admit to having a twinge of envy over the large space. Looking at your video helped me to realize we are long past having just studs in the kitchen. I know this will be a wonderful space.

  27. Great video and i was impressed with how slowly your make the turns not to make us dizzy! It is a very large basement with high ceiling, lucky you..Never, and I mean never count on the date they give you. This way you won't be disappointed if it isn't and will be happy if it is. I know your magic touch will turn the space into a very lovely area.

  31. You guys are making great use of the space. It's nice to have a good sized laundry room. My house is small too but I ended up with a good sized room and appreciate it. I hope the inspector will show up quickly so you guys can move on to the next step! I really dislike drywall work but the end result is the best part! If you are only a month off from your target move in date that's not bad. You two are real go-getters!
