This Nest Is Blessed.

Happy Friday.  Hoping your last week of 2016 has been a good one.

I had a great outing with a friend Tuesday.  We took a road trip from Chicago to Hudsonville, Michigan to The Found Cottage.
A pretty 2 hour drive and we were there.

The Found Cottage

I will take you on a little tour of the shop and then show you what I "Found"!

This beauty was calling to me but I  just do not have the wall space for her.  She was gorgeous.

Then I saw this pretty painted nest on a old tin!!!  Checked off all my must have's.  White, chippy and pretty. Then.....

I saw this one too and decided this needed to come home with me.   Beautifully painted on old rusty tins.  I picked this one because the beautiful painting just stood out more.

Of course I had to paint the frame with a little white!!!

Now that the Christmas decor is down I am looking to fill some spaces and this sweet sign landed here.

For now this is where this pretty new addition will stay.  As you know things tend to move around at The Junk Chic Cottage!!!!! For now I am liking it here.

I want to wish all of you a brand new year full of great health, happiness, lots of joy and of course many new creative adventures.

Thank you for your sweet blogging friendships and taking time to stop by my blog.  I appreciate each and everyone of you that take time to leave your sweet comments.

I am looking forward to starting the year off with visits to all your wonderful blogs and seeing all your new adventures.

Happy 2017.

Hope your Christmas celebration was wonderful.  Sometimes just surrounding ourselves with family is the best gift of all.

I wanted to show you something I got from a dear friend for Christmas and also share with you a little project I did to start the new year off.
This sweet tree made of old chair parts and spindles was gifted to me by a dear friend.  Oh how I love the chippiness and history to this piece.

Yep! those chippy vintage spindles just make me smile.  Love the old chair back and moldings for the base.

Sharing My First Small Project For 2017!

This was my dishwasher before Picture.

If you remember back in October I used these old frames and  count your blessings sign into a cover for the front of my dishwasher.  I loved the look but after a few months of having that heaviness on the door as you opened it each time became encumbering.  So I wanted to change that.

So back to the drawing board!!!!  I put my creative thinking cap on and came up with a very inexpensive plan to give this door a little pizazz and not be so boring next to the white cabinets.

I had Terry take the door front off the dishwasher.  That was pretty easy.  Just unscrewing the screws that held it on.  Easy Peasy!

Then I measured and cute a piece of this embossed paintable wallpaper I had from another project.

Took some spray adhesive and smoothed the piece onto the metal door front.  Wrapped it like a package around the sides and corners.

Just a very easy peasy and very inexpensive way to bling up the dishwasher front.  This is paintable wallpaper so you can paint it any color you would like.  So all you color lovers this would look great with a pretty color of paint on it.

I of course loving my whites kept it white!!!! No shocking news there!!!!  Terry did put one coat of white on this even though it was already white just to seal it for cleaning and up keep.

I found the wallpaper at Menards and have seen these different design paintable wallpapers at Lowes too.  In fact Lowes has these on clearance by us.  So you might check out your Lowes and see if you can get a roll of this at a great price.  I love this paper for doing projects since it is paintable.

Even with using spray adhesive to have it stick well to the door front it is strippable.  So if you change your mind like I do this can easily be removed.

Happy New Year to all of you.
Wishing you health, happiness and lots of creative activities in the new year.
Happy 2017!
Kris

Angels

As most of you know that follow my blog and IG I love to be surrounded by angels.  Both in my Christmas decor and also in my everyday decor.

I wanted to share a couple of new angels I just received and have put on my angel tree.

This sweet angel ornament I bought from Rhonda @ A Little Bit French.  It came package so nicely and wrapped in pretty angel Christmas wrap.

Her Etsy Shop Parisgal56 can be found here.
Rhonda made this sweet altered vintage tin Christmas angel ornament.

Rhonda used an antique French holy card image reproduced from her personal collection, vintage rhinestones, white beads were added to this tin to create a one of a kind piece.

So sweet I had to have this for my angel tree this year.

Just wanted to give a shout out to Rhonda's Etsy and the beautiful treasures she sells.  Thanks Rhonda I will treasure this.

I love when I can buy from other bloggers and small business owners.  Just a great way to gift yourself or others on your list with a one of a kind gift.

This angel I got at Pier 1.  All their Christmas ornaments are 20% off this week.  She was so sparkly and pretty I had to have her for my tree. Love her feathered dress.

Hope all your decorating is starting to give your home a comfy and cozy feel for the holidays.
I love taking time to enjoy the pretty Christmas decor around our new home this year.

Enjoy this most busy time of the year.  I wish the holidays did not go so quickly.  Take time to enjoy all the blessings of the season.

Happy Holidays,
Kris

Christmas at Junk Chic Cottage

Happy Holidays.

Now that we are living in a smaller place I decided less is more this year.

Just simple, soft and quiet.

My tree is done in whites, silvers and sparkles!  My tree is decorated with many angel ornaments I have collected over the years.  Lot's of beautiful memories make up my Christmas tree.  My tree base this year is a garden urn.

As most of you know it is hard to get that perfect night time picture of the tree lighted.  You will have to take my word on this.  The tree is beautiful at night with all her sparkles and lights.

This vintage farmhouse window we got on our anniversary trip to Michigan has my pretty angel wings this year.

Nothing says Christmas serenity and beauty like a madonna and candelabra.

Very pretty at night.

I did a winter scene on top of this cabinet in the living room.

Love my sweet angel hanging on this chippy window.

My favorite saying.

This beautiful angel was gifted to me by a dear friend a few years ago.  Just love the pretty and sweetness of this angel.

I dressed up my vintage watering can with some winter greens.

I added some Christmas greens and crystal lights with my angels above the china cabinet.  I added white lights to the greens to light up this area at night.

Inside the china cabinet I have more of my Madonnas.

Another one of my cute angels from the creative talents of Cathy from Cheswick Company relaxing in the wreath.

This is my original angel Grace from Cathy at Cheswick Company on Etsy years ago.  Just love Cathy's beautiful angels.  This one was gifted to me from Terry several years ago.  Through the years I have collected a few more of her one- of- a- kind- angels.  This Angel is Grace and will always hold a place in my heart because Terry surprised me with this angel for Christmas.

Grace sits happy in the bike on the door along with a few other Vintage Winter Garden pieces in the entry way.

I got this old picket and dressed it up on the window sill with some Christmas greens and a couple of cute birds.

A few Christmas decorations put up in my kitchen.

Just simple pieces I love added to the shelves in the kitchen.

This passage from the bible done on this old piece of barn wood is all the things I hope to have under the tree this year.

Blessed to own a sweet nest to decorate for the holidays.

My kitchen Christmas stocking made out of an old sugar bag.
My Chalkboard Advent Calendar.

My old fireplace mantel simple and sweet for Christmas.

Love when the candles are all a glow in the evenings and the Christmas tree and garland are lighted.  Just a pretty and serene feel to the house for Christmas this year.

I want to wish each and everyone of you a beautiful holiday season.  This is such a beautiful time of year.  May you enjoy all the blessings of the season.
Merry Christmas.
Happy Decorating, Shopping, Wrapping and Baking and Eating.  Enjoy!
Love,
Kris
PS:
A big hug and Thank you from Me and Coop to Tina from What We Keep.  She embroidered this cute vintage towel of Cooper.  I put it on the back of the white chair he loves to lay in.  Thank you Tina.  Love this and will treasure it.
