Habitat Re Loves

Hellooooo.  Hope your week end is going great.  Finally the temps and humidity here in Chicagoland have come down.  Yikes this past week we were having temps in the high 90's with lots of humidity.

Finally with the temps coming down we could paint the new pieces I showed you from Habitat Restore.

Here they are:

Here is the before picture of my $10 table.

Here is the after picture.  Yep! just took some WHITE paint and Terry built a new top out of some planks and a can of spray paint for the hardware.  I was going to paint the whole thing white but then I was liking the natural look the wood planks gave to the piece.

Look at her slimmed down pretty legs.

My little finches are happily guarding their new nest on the new coffee table.

Looks pretty in the living room and you can see the other fabulous find re love in this picture too.
So here we go on that re love....

My $40 dollar bottom cabinet.  She just needed a spa day and some love.

It is amazing what a Spa Day can do for a girl!!!

White paint and then steel gray spray paint for her hardware.

I kept my love of gardening for my vignette with this piece.

I got this fabulous metal chippy flower holder at Michaels for 40% off.  Framed it with one of my vintage frames.

Love this chippy watering can with it's sea washed blue spiket.

I have sun streaming in all day long.  Love that about this home.  Always bright and sun filled.

This new place really is beginning to feel like the Perfect Nest.
With being in here less than 2 months I am so happy for all the pretty changes to make it feel like home.  It was hard to move away from the former Junk Chic Cottage but this new Junk Chic Cottage is starting to feel like home.
So happy I have that handy dandy man with all his fabulous tools to make my decor dreams come true in our new home.

  Thank you Terry!

Have a wonderful week end.
It is low 80's with less humidity and sunshine here.
Love Summer!
Hugs,
Kris

PS:  A big hug and Thank You to my friend Anita from Castles  Crowns and Cottage blog.  Anita told  me about the White Balance setting on my camera and my pictures are coming out so much better.  Not as washed out like in the past.  Thank you Anita I am now "chasing the light" !!!!  If you do not know Anita or her beautiful blog and Instagram you must hop over to see her beautiful pictures.  She does not disappoint.
Thanks Sweet Friend for the help.

  2. Kris, I love how both those pieces came out. You and Terry know how to re-work things. Your home is beautiful . I like the basic wood top of the coffee table with the new legs. I think you and Terry need your own business redoing old finds. Blessings for a great evening and a beautiful Sunday. xoxo, Susie

  4. Bingo, Kris! Love how transformed both. Now, relax, please??!
Still hot and humid here, even with showers - just seems to draw the heat out of the ground.

I am so glad that your pictures are coming out better now. Thanks to Anita.

Your new home is very lovely and you and Terry have done such a wonderful job of redoing everything.

So glad that your temps and humidity are lower. I was out watering this evening and I was a little chilly. Can you believe that and it felt good.

Well my dear thank you so much for sharing your amazing home, I just love everything.

    Have a great Sunday.

  14. KRIS!!!!!!!!!

I was away from the computer all day yesterday (taking more photos!) and I am so blessed to see this! The moment I opened my blog roll and saw your new post title, I knew I'd be ready for a thrill! YOU and Terry (give that man a HIGH FIVE!) are the perfect REPURPOSING team! That little table, what a brilliant idea to take off the lower wooden bars; that dated the piece, but by taking them off, it becomes a much older, more vintage find. Then the paint job and Terry's gorgeous plank top....WOWSERS! And ya can't beat the prices! Then your console....yes indeed, a spa treatment is always the best for animal, vegetable or mineral (or furniture!) teeeeeeee

THANK YOU my friend for the sweet mention at the end! I NOTICED a very lovely change in your photos! Isn't white balance a charm of a find? I was enjoying a photo shoot yesterday where I truly had to adjust my camera of different lighting circumstances. I hope you get to view my next post that will be directing my readers to Vicki Archer's blog; she is doing a series in which she has interviewed a few of her readers, and I am one of them!

Hugs to you dearest heart. Enjoy that well-lit beauty of a cottage! ANita

  22. Kris, you are the queen of furniture makeovers! I still can't believe the great price you got on those pieces. It always amazes me what a little paint and love can do. You have that wonderful ability to envision how great things can be and that certainly is a valuable asset. These pieces are so beautiful! Great job! Oh, and I'm loving the flower holder inside the frame. Brilliant!

  24. It's amazing what you and hubby did! wow and double wow. What kind of paint do you use?? chalk paint or regular? do you sand and prime also? I can't believe those are the same pieces. You really have an eye for the "after" of the "before and after"!!!! Never would have thought of removing those bottom legs on the little table. What a difference that made. I had to do some pinning on this post!

  25. These two pieces turned out wonderful!

  26. Perfect Kris! Adding the wood top to the table was pure genius, but not nearly as genius as removing the bars on the bottom. I'm wondering if that was fairly easy to do without messing up the legs?

The correct white balance makes such a difference. I'm not sure if your camera can shoot in raw, but if it can that's definitely the way to go. Then you can change the white balance after the fact if you want, plus it's fun to see what the pics look like with different settings.

  29. They are both showstoppers! And to think that you saw what they could become. I am so glad to read about how happy you are with your new cottage, that it already feels like home. You probably knew when you first visited the house and saw the sunshine coming in that you could be happy there.

Saturday was our first day in 4 months to indulge in a bit of thrift store browsing. We didn't get much but made us remember how much fun it could be. And there's one metal stand for $4 I couldn't resist but have no idea what I can use it for. I'll have to try to think like Kris!
