Adoption Day

Hi Everyone.  Woooooo long day in the car but so worth it.  We left Chicago at 6:30am and got to Cincinnati at noon their time.  They are an hour ahead of us.  Here is pics of our new little member of our family.

The Foster family called him Roscoe.  They did not know his name when he was rescued from the kill shelter.  So since he does not answer to Roscoe we changed his name to Cooper.  Terry wanted to name him Cooper.  Surprisingly he comes when we call him Cooper.  Go figure!!!!

Here is Terry, myself and our granddaughter Abby picking up Cooper today.  He is just a big ball of love.
What a great little guy.  He loved all the dogs at the adoption center and everyone he came in contact with.

Cooper has taken a great liking to Terry.  I think they are forever buds!!!! He would not let Terry out of his sight.

Cooper loves everyone.  Kids, other dogs, just about everyone.  His tail never stopped wagging.

Here is Cooper on his car ride home.  He was a trooper in the car for the 5 hour drive.  We stopped a few times and he did his business and right back in the car and slept most of the drive.

He is just the best little guy ever.  We are so in love with him.  I think he rescued us more than we rescued him.

Thanks for all your sweet comments on our new family member.
We can't wait to move him into the new house with us.

My heart grew just a little bit bigger today with this new guy in our lives.

Have a wonderful week end.
Hugs,
Kris

  4. Cooper is soooo cute! Glad you were able to find a new love to share your life with. Amazing how some dogs gravitate to a specific person. Our black cocker spaniel "Amigo" was that with my hubby. Our two current dogs appear to be more mine than his...but I say that's more because I am the food girl and the one who plays fetch. However, our Zeke was always very fond of my father who has passed now almost 2 years ago...funny how life keeps speeding on by while our hearts are missing a loved one. My mother came to visit on Easter...Zeke ran out to her car and sniffed around and then came running back in searching the whole house. It seemed as if he was looking for my father. He spent the rest of the day sitting near my mom. I think he would gladly go home with her. Anyhow, I am so glad you have a new fur baby. There are just some people who are not whole without one. I think this is very true for me.

  11. What a Lovely guy you have there. And I'm thankful that you and Terri decided to adopt an older dog. I Watch those films on Youtube and I feel ashamed of being a human from time to time. How can they do the way they do to animals?
I can see Cooper is already a Lovely member of the family and I hope he will enjoy his new home. Take care.

  13. He is just divine Kris! It's like having a beautiful new baby! We got a kitten a few days ago but there have been a few complications with her health so I haven't blogged her yet. Fingers crossed things are sorted soon. But it was totally love at first sight. She is perfect for our family and so affectionate. Pets really do bring so much happiness. :) Julie

  18. Thank you for adopting! I am a volunteer with a local dog rescue and love when people adopt a rescue dog. They are always so grateful to be safe again. I am getting my 18th foster dog this week and I love fostering. When they find their forever home it makes it all worthwhile. Enjoy your new family member!

    1. Thank you Gayl for being a rescue mom. That is such an important job and a great start for their transition to a forever home. The foster mom that Cooper had was fabulous with him. Thank you for your kind and sharing heart with these little fur babies in need of love and care. You are my hero.

  63. He's so Handsome... and it's not so unusual to have a Positive Name Change at an Adoption... I recently Adopted two of our G-Kids we've been raising since birth and the older one, who is Fifteen, opted for a Fresh New First Name... perhaps Cooper wanted that Fresh New Start too and why he was unresponsive to an Old Name that didn't have happy Memories perhaps? Now for sure his Love will be reciprocated and he'll be Cherished as he should be! Congratulations on your Adoption... Dawn... The Bohemian

  81. Sorry I'm so behind.....your little Cooper is just the cutest!! I'm so glad he has such a wonderful forever home now. Poor little guy in a shelter...I can't stand the thought! I did the same with my Lily girl - I adopted her shortly after my little furball Reilly passed away so suddenly. Well, along came Lily (she was called Terri, funny enough, when I adopted her!) And my Lily girl needed a home...and I needed her. She helped my heart heal....and 13 years later she still makes me smile each and every day, as does her little brat of a daughter! Welcome home, Cooper!! xo
