Bittersweet

Just wanted to share some positive news today.
Junk Chic Cottage is under contract.

Saying good bye to my beautiful sanctuary space in the summer months.

It is bittersweet to be saying good bye to a home I have loved.  At the same time a wonderful young couple is buying this home.

He and his bride have served our country in the Marines.  He is out of the marines and his career is now being a police officer.

When he put the offer into us he also wrote a very touching letter to both Terry and I about how he felt at home the minute he walked into our home.  He has served his country and now is ready to settle down and start a family and this home is where he can envision starting his life.  Touched our hearts.  Love that we are giving back to the men and women that keep us safe.

With Terry being a firefighter all his life he knows about giving service to others.  So it was sweet that our buyer is a police officer giving service to others.  I know they will love this home as we have and starting their life together here is so sweet.

Bittersweet for me to say goodbye to this home I have loved but it will be wonderful shelter for a new family to begin.

I will love another home as I have loved this one and am excited to think about unleashing my decor crazy on another home soon!

Thank you for all your support and prayers for Terry and I as we have embarked on this journey of change in our lives these past months.

We are hoping as our journey is beginning a new direction with the sale of this house,  Terry will secure a position of employment soon.  We do not close on this home until the end of January so hoping maybe a job offer will come and we will only have to move once.

Have a wonderful week.  I know a lot of you are getting your happy holiday decor going.
Enjoy.  This time of year moves quickly so enjoy everyday up to Santa's big day.

Baking, cleaning, shopping, wrapping oh my!!!
Enjoy.
Kris

  26. Dearest Kris, I am SO THRILLED FOR YOU! It seemed as if it was taking too long to sell this house, but it finally happened, and I'm sure, to the right couple. May God bless them there as you have been blessed. I hope that you will find yet another home that you can fix up into a nest, a place where you and your family can recreate more memories. A house becomes so special when we've lived in it and have given it character. MUCH LOVE!

  27. Kris,
Tears run down my face as you and Terry embark on a new chapter of your loving and dwelling, recreating and junkiń with a love of all things vintage and White. You filled your home with love and positive energy that was felt by the right buyers, not at all surprising to me it was a man and his bride of service. As one of your loyal followers and friends I am excited to travel to a new home of laughter, celebrations and adorning it all with décor crazy with sweet Terry who wears that amazing tool belt.
I am glad you have decked your walls for Christmas 2015 and will enjoy the holidays at Junk Chic Cottage and there is magic in the air for the next charter.
    Sending love,
    Vera

  28. This is wonderful news Kris, and indeed you are passing down the love you have shown this home to new members who will love it all over again.

Sounds like a wonderful couple, and does it not make you proud that in some way you are doing your service to our countrymen by providing a home that feels so home sweet home.
I especially love that they want to start a family here in your home that has been handed down for new beginnings.

Joyful days ahead of you and all the newness that will be waiting.

  35. I am new to this blogging community so I don't know the background on why you were selling your home, Kris --- but I do know how difficult it is to put your heart and soul into a home and then have to sell it. As much as I'm sure it is a relief to you that it is under contract it's so hard to pack up your life and start a new one elsewhere. And it sounds like you are not quite sure where that will be, which makes it tougher. However, one thing I've learned in the short while I've been following your sweet blog is that wherever you hang your hat will be an absolutely amazingly beautiful and serene home....your sense of style and tranquility will shine through. And you will make a new home that you will love. I wish you much luck in your next phase of life. xoxo

  38. I know so very well the bittersweet feelings you are experiencing Kris. It's hard to leave a home you've loved and made your own, but I know there is another home out there that is just waiting for your very special touch. It's comforting to know the family who will be moving in will also love this home as much as you have. A chapter is closing, but another one is starting. I hope the timing works out, and you won't have to move twice, but whatever happens, we will be right here cheering you on.

  39. Kris, I'm so happy you've sold your home to a young couple who appreciate your beautifully maintained home! I know you are sad to leave your cottage behind, but I know that no matter where you live, you'll have it styled to perfection in no time at all. You've got me teary eyed reading this post, but I feel your long wait is about to be over and you can start on your new journey. Enjoy your last Christmas season in your beloved cottage.

  66. How wonderful that your house sold to such a deserving young couple. It is bittersweet to leave a home you cherished but knowing that such a wonderful young couple will be moving in and cherishing it also, will make the transition better. Hopefully Terry will soon have a position that he will love and you will know where you will be settling in to start satisfying your décor itch. I know that Lincoln, Nebraska is still looking for a Fire Chief, if that would interest Terry in any way, or perhaps he already applied. Best of wishes for the New Year and your future.

Ours was a Historic Home on Acreage that just became too much for me to care for adequately and a Newer Home was easier for The Man to navigate after his brain injury. We Love all of the Changes and I suspect you will too as you begin Feathering a New Nest! Merry Christmas from the Arizona Desert... Dawn... The Bohemian
