Just a few things to share today.  It is 58 degrees here in Chicago but very cloudy and dreary day so I decided to go to one of my fav shops Tattered Tiques in Lake Barrington for chippy and vintage items and show you just a few things I bought. This shop just makes me smile and I always find something in this shop that speaks to me!!!!!

In the upper right corner is this cute little vintage vase I got today. I just found it to be totally cute.
Lovely Nancy one of the owners of Tattered Tiques gave me the flowers inside this cute little vase.  Those girls are so nice and what an extra bonus to get fresh cut flowers today with my purchase.
Set this little baby on my new coffee table in the living room. Since it is not feeling like winter today and more like spring I like the fresh cut flowers to look at.  This sweet little vase just makes me smile. Sometimes it is the simple things in life that give us such joy.
Here is the cute little chippy empty without flowers.  You can see how cute this is.  Many uses for this too besides flowers.  Could be a cute little candy dish too.  I really like it for the fresh flowers.
Also another found treasure today was this wooden tray box.  I am not sure where that will end up but it just spoke to me in the shop.  So I brought it home today too.  I just love the texture and color of the wood against all my white and cream.

If you live in the Chicago land area you MUST stop by this shop and take a look at all the vintage wonderful treasures.  Besides all the vintage treasures they also carry the chalk paint and the milk paint and flea market magazine and Jeanne D' Arc Living magazine's.

Here is the website to their shop and blog so you can see when they are open.  If you do live near Chicago it it so worth the trip. Nancy and her two daughters Anne and Julie run this shop and they are the sweetest three shop owners you will ever meet. So stop in and say Hi and I know you will find some fun treasures.

  2. Hi Kris: That little vase is so cute. In the first couple of pictures, with the flowers in it, I thought it was a little flower cart wagon and I was surprised when I saw how it exactly was without the flowers. Isn't that funny? Very cute either way and the tray is perfect against your white. Doesn't it always make you feel good to go into a little shop when the weather is bad outside and to receive the kind gift of the fresh flowers just is icing on the cake!..Happy Friday..Judy

  5. Your vase is darling, Kris! It was meant to be in your home! And we all need fresh flowers on these dreary days! I love shops like these, where you actually meet the owners. I probably live close to an hour away, maybe less. But if I am ever in the area I will be sure to look them up.

Happy Weekend! I hear we are in for some rain, sleet and snow. Whoopie!!

    XO,
    Jane

  14. I have to say that your house doesn't look like it is in the middle of a Chicago winter. It is 50 today on the coast of southern California and that is COLD for us. I am sitting by the fire to thaw out.

I just love clicking on your blog and seeing your opening picture.

  15. Everything looks lovely- what fun things you have there. You were a tad warmer than we are up here in Green Bay. I see the Packers had to take a bus to Chicago today to fly out for the game- we were/are fogged in- xo Diana

  21. That bag is the coolest thing! I have never seen one before. Nice find. So glad you scooped it up. As for an ipad case or whatever, I saw the cutest idea on someone's blog (can't remember at the moment), it was actually a way to store a kindle or nook or some such item but would work for an ipad too. It was a hollowed out book (decorated somewhat inside) and at the top of the book was a little cut out for the cord so it could be recharging while it sits on your nightstand or whatever. This way it just looks like a book on the table rather than an electronic device. Then you can pick whatever old book goes with your decor. Just an idea.
