I am moving on to the next room (s) reveal as I clean and rearrange things. In the last post you saw the master bedroom my sanctuary. Now I will show you my two other bedrooms I made into guest rooms since my two daughters are out on their own now. I love to have nice comfy duvets and fluffy pillows for my guests when they come to stay. I want them to have their own sanctuary when they come for a visit.

Here are my two guest rooms.

This is one of my guest rooms that I did a lake cottage theme.  We live in a lake town so I wanted one of my guest rooms to reflect this.  I have a lot of my signature white and cream but did add some punches of blue color.  After all you think of pretty blues when you think lake.
Old gate that I got for a steal at the Kane County Flea market last summer.  Could see that gate being on an old lake cottage fence.
This room always available for guests.

Just some more Lake motif.
One of my fav old pieces of history.  This old white chippy mail box right off the farm.
Chippy old lake cottage rental sign I got in a small shop in Wisconsin.  Had to have that in my lake room.  Still looking for a clever way to hide the TV in my guest room. I am hoping to eventually find a nice little cabinet that makes a statement.
Can't go wrong with an old chippy ladder to display lake cottage decor.
Old door hanging on the wall with different hooks for hanging.  This door actually came off an old beach front cottage. Love the history of these pieces and how they fit into my decor.

Some of the pictures on my post are from my friend Stacey at Cottage Industry Interiors.  She takes the best pictures.  Check out her blog too.  Her home was just featured in the new Flea Market Decor magazine.  She has an adorable house.
http://asortoffairytalegirl.blogspot.com/  Stacey took some pictures back last summer for an upcoming feature for my home. Thanks Stacey for your beautiful pictures of my home.
I love that this bedroom faces West so when the sun starts to set in the late afternoon it is so pretty so had to hang that chippy sunset drive sign above the window!
Old beach pail stacked full of different fun magazines for my guests.
Ok on to guest bedroom #2.  This is my chippy shabby room. Oh what is that outside that window??!! Flowers ohhh can't wait to see those again. With the wind chill below zero today I am so dreaming of my garden and flowers to come.

Used old gates for headboards on the twin beds in this room. Love old gates as headboards.  White chippy chair from Ikea and the lovely ruffle drapes from Target.

Love that I could find a place for these old vintage white frames I had for a long time.  I love the feel they give to this room.  They tell a story all in themselves.

Love my little shabby vintage cottage for rent sign.
Next is my guest hall bathroom.
I used alot of cream and white in this bathroom.
Thanks for coming by for the 2nd part of the cabin fever home tour. More rooms to come so stay tuned.

  2. Very pretty guest rooms, Kris! I think I would be very comfortable if I stayed in either one. Your friend took some great pictures for you. I wish I could ~ living in a condo there are some areas where I don't even have natural light I can depend on. Love the color in the second guest room. Do you happen to remember the paint color?

    1. Kathy,
That color is from Behr and it is either Seaside Sand or Seaside Retreat. I got it at Home Depot so you could look at the swatches. Stacey takes great pictures and I have some issues with lighting in this house too so their special nice cameras and talent can over come that. Have a great day.

  5. Really genius! The beds look so inviting - you just want to plop right in! It's so nice to see guest rooms that show the concern and care for the guests' comfort and needs. I love the blue accents in the 'Lake Room'. Everything looks so clean and fresh.

You are welcome to stay anytime you are in the Chicago area. I love to pamper my guests. My daughter that is living in a furnished apartment while on her job assignment let me keep her tempurpedic bed in the Lake room. Ohhhhhh Laaaaa Laaaaa that bed is so comfy. I don't think I want to give it back to her when her assignment is over and she moves to a new place.

  10. Beautiful, Kris! I just love your style...using whites and chippiness and cute vintage accessories. The old gates for headboards are just so charming and I love all of your signs. Your bathroom is just lovely, too! Every summer I tell myself I'm going to go to the Kane County Flea Market...maybe this will be the year!

Nope did not make the bedding. I wish I could sew but that is not a talent I have. I bought those cuties with the ruffles at Home Goods. I am with you wanting to see flowers. When I was gathering my pictures I remember some of these were taken in the summer months when we could see flowers!!!! Ohhhhhhh I want summer!!!!

  19. Beautiful guest rooms!! Love the gates that you used for the headboards. My sister gave me an old iron gate to use as the headboard in our guest room. Now we need to get a bed for in there. Love the curtains...so pretty!! My daughter has those same ones in her apartment.
I think I just picked up a copy of the magazine that Stacey's home is in.

I didn't know Target sold those curtains. Was that recent or a long time ago. The blues in the room are perfect. Lucky, lucky guests!

    1. Good Morning Liz,
Those curtains are currently available at Target or on line too I think. I just got them in the summer but I think they still have them. I have not been down the curtain aisle of late but pretty sure they are still available.

I think I need a ruffle intervention!!!!! My poor husband (he's a fire chief) and is a man's man for sure but he lives with my ruffle addiction. Such a co dependent!!!!! Ha Ha!!!! I don't know what is is about ruffles but I love them!!!

Have a great Friday and a wonderful week end. It is snowing like crazy here in Chicago. Our first real snow of the season so I guess it was bound to happen. It is pretty to look out at but I have a million things to do today so I am sure it won't be pretty to drive in!!!!!

  24. Morning Kris,
Your guest rooms are so welcoming and beautiful and interesting. Love your style because you have just enough shabby to go with your chic.
I like a lil bit of chippy but some is just way to much for me, You are like me in the fact that most everything looks new and fresh with just enough chippy to make it look great. I tend to need a lil more chippy still............lol

Loved the use of that blue in your lake bedroom too, that is my fav shade of blue, and was perfect for a lake theme, all very pretty. You should
be featured in a magazine, you are a very talented decorator. Loved that guest room door.............that is really cool. You have so many interesting things in your house, it is like a wonderland of fun....................so happy you share it.

I saw a table and chairs in a world market flyer the other day, and it was turquoise, the table was over $200, but seriously, was so chippy it
looks like it was over a hundred years old, ugly, as far as I was concerned, and I thought who would buy that if you can go buy an old table
that looked like that for $10-20. I bought a round pedestal table from a neighbor years ago for $20.00 and it was a bit messy looking, course
I sanded and painted it, and it looks great in my kitchen. Years ago when my kids were young, one of our sunday school girls used to babysit
for us, and her mom and I both had country decor back then, and she used to say I tell my Mom that she has country, but that you have uptown country!! that used to crack me up...............so guess now she would say I have uptown Whites w/a touch of chippy!! lol

You have a great day hon,
    Blessings, Nellie

I wrote this whole thing to answer your email and then realized oh no.....it is a noreply
but then thought of yea, maybe I can copy and paste it.........thankfully it worked.

  25. Nellie,
Thanks so much for your nice comments. I do like to have the change so it is fun to change up what I already have. Doesn't cost anything and gives you a whole new look. Have a wonderful Friday and great week end. It is snowing like crazy here in Chicago. Our first real snow of the season. It looks pretty but I need to run some errands today so not sure it will be pretty for driving in!!!!! Thanks so much.

I will have to check the no reply thing as I should not be a no reply. I keep fixing that so not sure whey that is doing a no reply on my email. I did get your email too. I love the uptown whites with some chippy!!!! I am going to have to remember that one.

  27. These rooms are so sweet! I love them both and the bathroom too! I really like how you think about things when you decorate - like putting the sunset sign above the window where you could watch the sunset - brilliant! I think I'll book the lake room for the weekend and the chippy room for the week days LOL! Do you have room service? :) I am really enjoying seeing all of your rooms! Thank you so much for sharing! Hugs, Leena Oh! LOVE those ruffled bed coverings! I want a bed skirt like that!
