It is amazing what you can do with some old chippy side lights I picked up in Geneva, Illinois from a shop I just love Denise's Adornments.  She has beautiful chippy old things as well as new so if you live in this area please visit her shop. I hung these in my pass through to the family room. I think they kind of framed out that opening pretty nicely.

Don't you just love the character of the old mail slot.

I also had a couple of pieces of old door left from another project so I did not want to throw them out so I just painted them and "chipped" them and hung some old vintage sconces on them.

I just cannot stand to throw away anything with history and character so I was glad I could use these next to my shabby mirror over the mantel.

  1. Love the side lights!! It looks like they made to hang in the pass through to your family room. And the other pieces look great on either side of the mirror over the mantel...so pretty.

    1. Well hello Susan. That is such a nice compliment coming from you. I too love your house and all the treasures you find with history to relove in your home. That is I think the best part of this kind of decor. You can take something with such wonderful history and relove it in your home. Ohhhh the stories some of these old chippy pieces could tell!!!!!

    1. Leena The minute I spoted those old side lights I knew they had to come home with me. I loved that the one had the old mail slot in it. They are really hard to find with the mail slot in the side light so I really fell in love. They were going to go somewhere else but when I brought them home I said I think they were meant to be in that pass through from my kitchen to the family room.

    1. Good Morning thanks so much for finding me because now I have found you. I love your blog. I love that dresser and the barn wood behind it. So clever and looks amazing. I have an old barn door from a horse barn they were taking down and I hung it over my sectional in my family room. I love things with history reloved into my house. Such character it gives to the room. I will be back to your blog love it.

    1. Hi Linda,
My husband just angled some screws in to angel them in to the wall and top of the opening of the door way. Hope that helps. They were not hard to hook up. You are a no reply comment blogger so I hope you come back to read this so you can see my reply. Good luck.
